Hot take maybe… but there’s a reason experienced photographers charge what they charge.
This industry has quietly normalized burnout. People are running themselves into the ground doing session after session after session just trying to survive, and then wondering why they’re exhausted, creatively depleted, and ready to quit.
Photography is not just showing up and clicking a button.
It’s years of learning light.
Years of learning people.
Years of learning how to create consistency.
Thousands and thousands of dollars in equipment, software, education, insurance, travel, editing time, backup systems, and experience.
And honestly? Clients deserve photographers who are rested, inspired, prepared, and sustainable.. not drowning.
Affordable options absolutely have their place, especially in hard economic times. But there is also value in investing in someone who has spent years refining their craft and building a business that’s meant to last.
