A big part of my ongoing passion for this work of documenting motherhood is in the process. I know what it's like as a mom to feel like committing to family photography is a tremendous effort on my part, and if I don't execute everything, from outfit planning to attitudes to looking as photogenic as possible and maybe even using mind control on the weather, it's probably going to be a disappointing experience at best. No surprise, I can't do it all.

You know what? That's your photographer's job! On this side of the camera, I've spent years working in all kinds of lighting and weather, laughing through all kinds of toddler meltdowns, experimenting with all kinds of styling to nail your art design. Your photographer can be so much more than a cameraman - they're your personal art director, collaborating with you to create something truly alive and handcrafted.

Each time I connect with a client, it sets me on fire to go through the process again for the very first time to make something magical just for you.

It's heady October, the time of golden afternoons, sweetly crisp weather, and all the choicest shades of green with burnished gold and russet coming on fast. (Also, my five-year-old makes those exact faces in the last pic, I never want to forget the sheer genius of boyhood. That's talent 👹)
