Baby-gurl is graduating today from Berklee College of Music... This is my message to her...
Love you mama! So so proud of you. You'll never know how much I talk about you (all of you) to my clients, friends, people I meet everyday. I want you to go a GET, not chase, but go and take all that God has for you. Be strong, be persistent, be brave and and courageous! Tell people what you want and need. Tell them how great you are and will be. Tell them that if they don't choose you, they're making a huge mistake. I may not know what a d-flat is or a a-sharp but I KNOW GOOD MUSIC and I would never have given you my blessing, support or time if I didn't think you were/are more than capable of all that you will accomplish. You ARE A GREAT SINGER! Know, it! Own it! Now it's time to let the world meet your greatness. Find your voice and I don't mean singing, I mean that you don't take no for an answer. Don't be discouraged when life doesn't go well, instead go harder. Go so hard that when you break through the process, performing will be easy. Be damn near perfect in your lyrics your production and your singing, and if you can't, surround yourself with thoes that will help and hold you accountable. You can do this, I've always known you can. LET'S GOOO!!! Daddy's gotchu!
Lord, thank you for such a blessing that beautiful December day in 2003. This little one stole my heart and gave me so much joy. Thank YOU for such a wonderful daughter, that you've blessed with such rare talents. Please Lord, open doors (and keep the one's closed that will be a detriment to her), surround her with people that love her, support her career, and will help to move her forward with her dreams and goals. Lord, protect her and give her wisdom, courage, fearlessness and even more insight and talents, so that she can bless the world with what you've given her. May she always know You are with her and may she NEVER forget who blessed her with her beautiful voice. May she grow in her faith and love you even more. Thank you for her, I'm so grateful for You Lord, for a wonderful life with her.
Amen!
