I love taking pictures so it really means a lot to me to have friends like Kassidy and Rebecca who come up with ideas that let me do this thing I love. Kassidy had mentioned while she was visiting me that she needed to come up with an idea for a session so we could do pictures. She was true to her word and messaged me about a shoot based on an idea she had for a shoot based on a pretty distinctive make-up look. Here's the result. As you can probably tell this session was a lot of fun. Thanks Kassidy.

Rebecca and I are always up for doing a session but we usually wait for something to inspire us. Rebecca found a dress that she wanted to wear for pictures and the "Blood of My Exes" wine glass. So we set a date and this is what came about. A definite vibe. As usual, she looks beautiful. The day did kind of end on a sour note. She had her dog with her and he had a run in with a skunk that had wandered into the yard. It was bad. Oh, and I never dreamed I would one day find myself ordering pasties.

I met Kassidy in 2004 when she was 3. She started in Head Start at the same time her Mama came to work there. She was a sweet, little blond headed girl. Over the years she has remained sweet, but she has been black-headed and red-headed. And she has always been cute, except I guess now it's more appropriate to say pretty. Now if I am being totally honest I will have to say that I never expected Kassidy to graduate from college. It's not that I didn't think she was intelligent I just didn't think she was the college type. But here she is, a college graduate and I am so proud of her. I believe this young lady will be able to accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Congratulations Kassidy!

This was a different kind of session for Rebecca and I in that it's lighter in mood than what we usually do. I had just done a sunset session on the riverbank with the grandkids and when she said she was coming for a visit I thought doing a similar one with her would be fun. It was.

This young lady is an inspiration to me. Our last session was about trying to show how she deals with the many health issues she has, but if you were to spend any time with her you would never suspect her inner struggles because her spirit is undefeated. She is one of the most unselfish people I know, always advocating for the downtrodden and oppressed. As she talks about her experiences with homeless people you can tell her heart is genuinely breaking. If she sees someone in need she wants to help.

And then there's the fact that she enjoys hanging out with me. She always greets me with a a hug (and she gives the best hugs) and tells me that she loves me. And I love her. She makes this old man feel like he still has value and something worthwhile to contribute. She is the best friend I would have never expected to have and I feel lucky to have her.

Oh, and she is the best model, beautiful and creative. She always brings out the best in me.

I asked Rebecca if she was up for another shoot. I was happy to hear she was. I was having trouble coming up with a theme but, thankfully, she had something in mind. This is her story so I will let her tell it.

“Trying to come up with a back story to my latest photo shoot with Richard Blake Photography has been difficult. The goal of our shoot was to represent and express feelings of chronic pain and General Sadness. Being in constant mental & physical pain since a young age has been very interesting, enlightening, stressful, limiting and also very eye opening. Since around ten years old, I’ve had pain and memory issues that led to multiple diagnoses. Hyper Mobility Disorder, OCD, Severe Scoliosis surgery (that onset therapy issues), Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Chronic Migraine and Generalized Anxiety disorder ( Panic Disorder & PTSD).
I’m so thankful for my support system and natural love for other humans…love keeps me going everyday. It’s so hard to be strong in this world but we all have struggles and we all must love each other best we can. If you’re reading this and you need a friend to talk to, please reach out. You’re not alone ! I love you all.”

Rebecca is one of the strongest persons I know. She has an indomitable spirit. I love working with her.

You can tell by the smiles how thrilled and proud Rebecca, Brandon and Ellie are of the new addition to their family. Olivia is a beauty. I'm so glad I got to meet her.

As I tell people I am no longer in the photography business but I still love doing photography so I always appreciate it when someone thinks of me and asks if I would like to do some pictures. I've known Rebecca her whole life, did her wedding pictures and a couple of family sessions. I was thrilled when she asked me to do her maternity pictures. These pictures show a family that is so excited to be adding a new member and I am so happy for them.

As I mentioned before, I had this idea for a 50’s themed photo session so I messaged Kassidy to see if she was interested in helping me bring it about. Being the sweetheart she is, she agreed. I’m glad because I will admit that seeing her newly acquired red hair was part of my inspiration. Let me encourage you strongly to click the link and check out Kassidy’s gallery because she did a fantastic job in capturing the 50’s vibe I was going for. I mean, every now and then I would give her a starting point and then just sit back and watch where she took it. There were times while I was editing the pictures that I literally had to remind myself whose pictures I was working on. Absolutely amazing.
