Message from the new comers student of 2026, YHSS.

Respected Principal,

Even though we are new students at YHSS, your presence made a lasting impact on us. From the very beginning, we never felt like outsiders. Your leadership, kindness and constant encouragement made us feel like we have been part of this school for a long time💞

We were genuinely excited and full of hope. We were looking forward to being students here under your guidance, leadership and growing in this new environment. But sadly, God had other plans.Just when we were beginning to adjust and feel at home, we heard the news of your departure. It felt unreal because even in such a short time, you made us feel like we had been here all along🫶

You were not just a principal but also a source of inspiration. You were someone who made us feel welcomed and valued. The comfort we felt in this new school came largely from your presence and guidance🫡🫰

It's sad to say goodbye when we had only just begun our journey here with you. Congratulations sir for getting promotion🌸

We will always carry this short but meaningful time in our hearts❤

With deepest respect and gratitude,

Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen graced the Salhang (ground-breaking ceremony) of Druk Ugyen Samyeling, which will be a centre of Buddhist practice, study, and contemplative life in the GMC. The complex follows a sacred mandala layout, with a central temple surrounded by twelve zones designated for different ritual and community uses, and also enshrine 100,000 statues of Ugyen Norlha.

3 April 2026: His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, along with Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, and Gyalsem Sonam Yangden Wangchuck, graced the opening of the second edition of the Rhododendron Festival at Sheytemi in Merak, Tashigang, today.

His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and Ashi Yeatso Lhamo accompanied Their Majesties to the festival, which was attended by over 8,000 people.

The week-long festival, held from 3 to 9 April at Sheytemi, at an altitude of around 2,900 metres above sea level, celebrates the flowering season when rhododendrons come into bloom. Bhutan has approximately 46 species of rhododendron, of which 41 are found in the highland areas of Merak and Sakteng.

Festivities included traditional dance, singing, and games. Local products unique to the area were also on display.

Merak and the neighbouring Sakteng Gewog, which fall within the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, are renowned for their distinct highland culture and remarkable biodiversity.

The festival is organised by Trashigang Dzongkhag and the Department of Tourism.
