My plus size girlies... Raise your hand if you've ever felt this way...
It's me - your friendly neighborhood bo***ir photographer coming at you from a vulnerable place, sharing this image of me in a bodysuit that I wouldn't have tried on 1yr ago.
It's hard shopping, knowing the store likely doesn't cater to your body type. Looking at the gals in the ads - and wondering if the outfit will conceal your mom pooch - or your arms - or those lumps and bumps on your b***y. Will it support the sagging skin that was once your chest prior to having your kiddos?
All these things run through our minds - but what you do with these thoughts is what is important.
We have a tendency to take these thoughts and think - I'll never look good in that.... they're so much prettier than me... I'm ugly... I'm fat... I'm not WORTH having something like that, or spending that money on myself.
Did reading those words make you feel a certain way? I know typing them did.
Instead of taking those thoughts and running head first down the negative self-talk rabbit hole - what if we reframed our mindset and talked to ourselves in a kinder way? A more neutral way?
When I pulled this bodysuit out of my client closet to try on for my selfie session - instead of turning to the negative I kept repeating to myself - it's ok if it doesn't fit right, I can always find something else. You never know until you try.
When looking in the mirror - I saw my apron belly peeking out from the bottom of the bodysuit and decided you know what? I feel pretty in this color - so I'm going to wear it anyway.
And so I did.
Clothes don't have to fit you the same way they do the model. It's ok! As long as you feel amazing, you rock that crop top, or that bodysuit, or that tight dress. As they say - confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can wear ;)
Let's change the narrative. Instead of tearing ourselves down, let's lift each other up. When those doubts hit, remind yourself you're worthy, beautiful, & unique.
Next time you doubt yourself, replace it with a positive affirmation. Share your journey and inspire others to do the same. Use and let's build a community of self-love!
