Before you book your wedding DJ, ask these 3 questions. 👇

1. What’s your backup plan if something goes wrong?
Equipment can fail. People get sick. Emergencies happen. Your DJ should be able to tell you exactly what their backup plan is — not just say, “Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out.”

2. Who keeps our reception timeline moving?
A great wedding DJ does a lot more than play music. They’re communicating with your venue, photographer and videographer, making announcements, watching the timeline and adjusting when things don’t go exactly as planned.

3. What do you do when the dance floor isn’t responding?
This one matters. A playlist is easy. Reading a room isn’t. Your DJ should know when to change direction, switch genres, take a request, move on from a song that isn’t working and build the energy back up.

The DJ you choose has a HUGE impact on how your reception actually feels.

So don’t just ask what they charge or what songs they play.

Ask how they handle a wedding.

Don’t choose a song just because it’s on a “father-daughter song” list. 🤍

Choose the one that feels like YOU TWO.

Maybe it’s the song Dad always played in the car.
The artist you grew up listening to together.
A song that makes you both laugh.
Or one you can’t hear without getting emotional.

That’s what makes the moment special.

And one DJ tip couples don’t always realize: you don’t have to dance to the entire song. If 3–4 minutes feels like a long time, ask your DJ to shorten it to the part that means the most to you.
