How did we get here so fast?
The last weekend before my son starts school 🥺
I’m learning that motherhood is, in so many ways, a constant practice of letting go.
There is a part of me that just wants to keep him close. I wish we could stay here where we are for a little longer. In a lot of ways it feels like this chapter is closing before I’ve decided I’m finished reading it.
But that’s about me and what I want. Because I also know he’ll grow, learn so much, make friends, and become more independent. He’s excited, and I know he’s going to walk into this new chapter that we will also cherish so much.
I guess this is the beautiful and painful part of watching your children grow — being so proud of who they’re becoming, while missing who they just were.
I’m going to try my best to be present in this season instead of wishing I could go back or hold it still.
I read somewhere that motherhood was never meant to be about keeping them little. It’s about loving every version of them enough to let them become the next one.. Even when your heart isn’t quite ready to say goodbye.
