Had the pleasure of walking and photographing a piece of akron history today! The glendale steps built between 1926 and 1927 stand next to Cadillac hill and connect south walnut street and glendale Avenue. All 242 sandstone bricks were cut and dressed on site, the project was originally envisioned by architect William H Manning as the grand entrance to a new park which was not financially attainable at the time due to recession.

while most of our direct action boots on the ground work is mostly centered around documenting and preserving the structures that we showcase on the page, we also are strong advocates for squatters rights. On top of having spent time sheltering myself from the elements in squats while I was unhoused one of the biggest things i advocate for with these structures is reuse, and squatting when done right is just that; a DIY radical anarchistic form of adaptive reuse of a historic building
