I've taken numerous, I mean LOTS, of photos of butterflies over the years, but this is the first year I've been able to capture the Tiger Swallowtail enjoying the opening Hosta blossoms. They literally climb into the bloom, folding their wings straight up to make themselves narrow. I am always awed by the versatility of the insect world, but this was a first for me with these lovely butterflies. Please enjoy!

Sooooo, tonight I was called outside to photograph some buzzards in our woods. Turkey buzzards to be exact. They gather in large groups, called committees (when they are resting) in the trees, in the late afternoon sun, to bask, socialize, and think about where they may decide to roost for the night. There were MANY more than what I managed to capture. They are huge, and their wings make much noise as they leave one tree and fly to another. It was pretty magical. I was honored to witness them.

I've been shooting lots of images lately, but have spent more time doing things other than editing and posting.
So, I'm going to start with a rather under appreciated tree lizard, the green anole. It does change color based on its surroundings, and has some uncanny facial expressions, especially around the eyes. ;-)

The "Birthday Bunny" brought a new lens to the house over the weekend- a Tamron 150-600 - and despite the rainy weather I managed to give it a try. I'm still low on the learning curve, but am pleased with initial results. Now if it only weighed a little less...😊
