Tomorrow my big girl turns 8! Year 7 was met with challenges and obstacles that were premature for any child. We decided to review year 7 in art form. No studio pics just her expressing herself through her art. When I think of her 7th year, she had literally less than 24 hours to say goodbye to all her friends and teachers and face education in a way no one could ever imagine. Her goal for 2nd grade was to be recognized as an All-Star student and a scholar. The first two weeks of remote learning was rough but she caught on. She was recognized for being a scholar twice and also achieved the highest honor of being an All-Star. After 1 year of being out of school she went back this month and is kicking butt in her grades! She was supposed to dance for the Cavs last year, but her dance lessons were abruptly stopped and her swim lessons were cancelled. Year 7 out of the blue she asked me if her life matter and I told her yes your life matters, then she started asking if her friends life matters. I said definitely. My child has a group of diverse friends and all of them matter. She asked alot of questions about God, covid, and death the questions did not stop. She lost two family members and I had another set of questions that came with that. Although this girl had to face alot of adversity in year 7, she handled it like a champ!

One year ago today I was doing everything in my power to finish editing these photos. There were talks that the world was going to shut down and people were going to get sick and starting to die from a disease we knew nothing about. I did not know how it was going to change my world, all I knew that I had to get my clients all of their photos asap. A week before this photo was taken this senior wanted to do her senior photos in the snow. Last year due to schedules and lack of snow she threw caution to the wind and said lets just do the photoshoot, forget about the snow. She had one small request to take photos in her senior shirt in front of her school. Although I had a date with my grandmother, aunt, and mom I said yes let's go to your school. We did not know that one week later the world was going to shut down and she was not going back in her school for her 2020 senior year. It took me a long time to get back to doing photos for my clients. I am a recruiter for an essential company and we never worked from home, always in our office. My primary concern was keeping my photography clients healthy. I didn't care about the money, I cared about their health. No maternity photoshoots, newborns, nothing. This year I'm back at doing what I love and I still keep my clients happy and healthy. I thank this young woman (now a college student)for her let's just do it spirit, although her senior year was foerver changed, she still celebrated to the fullest!

Women make history every month!! My difference maker here, helped laid the foundation in Cleveland for one of the largest e-commerce company in the world. I witnessed her working long hours, kicking off the hiring process to hire thousands of workers in Cleveland, all the while being calm cool and collective in stressful situations. She did it all while being pregnant with her two little ones and she did it well! We are in the midst of history makers more than we know!!
