Mandeville Photography Welcome! I’m Christy Mandeville, an award-winning artist in St. Petersburg, Florida capturing nature's raw beauty & power. Follow my adventures!

When not storm-chasing, I’m home with my better half, Ross, & our Burmese cats, Monkey & Mocha. Christy Mandeville is an award-winning landscape and fine-art photographer based in Saint Petersburg, Florida, United States. As a critically acclaimed global diverse artist known for her trademark lightning photography, Christy vividly brings to life a story of balance and seeing nature’s fury to embra

ce its raw beauty and power. One constant is always balancing the light and the dark. Shooting at night requires leaving the lens open longer to gather light but the intense burst of lightning can easily overwhelm resulting in a completely over-exposed photograph. Christy patiently waits hours upon hours for nature to provide her with the perfect moments to share with you. Christy invites you to join us and gaze in awe at the Perfect Moments she captures. In a single instance, Christy forever encapsulates nature's awesome spectacle into a unique story and today she is happy to extend and share those experiences with you.

“It cannot be taught it has to be felt. It is that single moment where photography becomes the artist's signature. A moment missed is a moment forever dedicated to the memory of time alone." -Christy Mandeville (2023)

8.18.2026 -- It felt like 117 degrees out on the sand today, but Ross stopped me in my tracks and said, "I cannot believe you aren't going to take a picture of that." I'm so glad I turned around to catch this sandy masterpiece! 🦈🏖️🌊

Good morning, everyone! 🌅

Starting off the day by pulling a beautiful memory out of the archives from exactly three years ago in beautiful Indian Shores, Florida. Since I've been loving sharing throwback imagery for my sunset posts lately, this vibrant sky felt perfect to revisit. I remember the magic of that evening so well, capturing the coastal views that I love so much.

I vividly remember how hard it was to put the camera down that night—I ended up with over 225 photos! Sorting through them was a challenge, but these few really hold a special place in my heart. Tell me, which one is your favorite? (8.16.2023)

8.14.2026 -- Proof that patience always pays off. After watching the radar and thinking tonight would be a wash, the sky over Indian Rocks Beach absolutely exploded into these incredible violet and gold hues. I am so glad I got the drone up in time to catch this—and that afterglow was amazing!

8.13.2026 - Chased the Perseid meteor shower all night and struck gold with this incredible shot captured at 11:23 PM! After sorting through hours of hyperlapses, this brilliant 9-second slow-motion clip—shown normal and with star trails added—is easily the best shooting star I've ever caught on my S21.

8.10.2026 -- Here’s a tiny fraction of what I captured yesterday! 🎬

Even though I had to stay put a lot more than usual to give my foot a break, I made every angle count with the DJI Neo, Olympus, and Osmo Action 5 Pro (plus whatever gems are still waiting on my phone!).
Hope you love this short video highlight! 🍿👇

8.9.2026 -- As promised, here is the epic sunset that followed today’s crazy surprise storms! 🌅 The sky was absolutely on fire tonight.

Just for the record—I never use color filters on my shots! The only filter I ever use is an ND filter on my Olympus camera to help me catch daytime lightning. But for this aerial shot taken with my Neo drone? Zero filters. Everything you see here is pure Mother Nature showing off her incredible, true colors!

I promise to share more of the amazing beauty I have captured soon!

8.9.2026 -- 8.9.2026 -- So much for a quiet rest day! 🌩️

Surprise storms popped up fast, and even though I was moving a little slower than usual, I had to grab the gear. I managed to capture some absolutely epic footage!

Here is just a sneak peek with

I can’t wait to catch up and share the rest of this incredible storm energy with y'all—and keep an eye out, I'll be posting the epic sunset soon! ⚡🌅📸

Throwback to 8.9.2025 — When a "quick nap" turns into a full multi-camera deployment! 📸⚡️

I was ready to turn in at 8:06 p.m. and miss my first sunset since June 28th, but right before hitting the sheets, I caught a glimpse of a jaw-dropping pink glow across the sky.

I instantly abandoned sleep, grabbed both phones, my Osmo Action, and both Olympus cameras, and set up for the show! Out of all the footage from that evening, this single lightning bolt was the only strike that flashed across the lens—a true right-place, right-time gift. ⚡️🎁

Never trust a quiet sky when you're trying to go to bed early! 😂🙌
