Dawn at Magic Meadow
Sunrise overlooking Magic Meadow towards Prussik Peak. It may not be the most dramatic photograph from the Enchantments, but to me it captures something even more important: the quiet, timeless beauty of this extraordinary place. Everywhere you turn, there is something breathtaking to behold. Towering peaks, pristine lakes, endless granite, and the ever-changing light create a landscape that feels almost unreal.

While I believe there are only a handful of locations in the Enchantments that truly inspire awe beyond words, much of that comes down to timing. The season, the weather, and the quality of the light can transform an already beautiful scene into something unforgettable.

I'm also happy to report that, despite the frequent claims about how heavily impacted the Enchantments have become, my experience offered some encouragement. I'm certainly not denying the challenges that come with increased visitation, but during four days in this remarkable wilderness, I found only two gel-foil pouches, a set of earplugs, and a plastic bag. I picked them up and packed them out, as usual, but that was the entirety of the litter I encountered during my stay.

Places like this are a gift, and their future depends on all of us. If we continue to embrace the principles of Leave No Trace, future generations will have the same opportunity to experience the wonder, solitude, and beauty that I have been fortunate enough to enjoy here for more than forty years. My hope is that decades from now, someone else will stand in this very spot at sunrise, look across Magic Meadow, and feel the same sense of gratitude and awe that filled my heart this morning.

Lower Enchantment Basin
Far too wide of a panorama to easily view on Facebook, but I couldn't bring myself to crop any off. This is a 6x3 pano resulting in a 486 Megapixel image, which means it would print sharp at over 20' wide! Do you have that much room on your wall?

Gnome Tarn & Little Annapurna
Sorry it's taking so so long to post my Enchantment images. Too many frames shot, too little time, hard many choices. This one's nice, but my favorites are yet to come and were taken from the far side of this tarn only minutes before this one looking south.

Echoes of Autumn Light
After a cold, wind-swept first night of my recent adventure in the high country, dawn arrived as a gift. The first light of morning spilled across Horseshoe Lake, transforming the rugged granite walls of Mount Stuart into a masterpiece of gold and stone. The larches, dressed in their brief autumn brilliance, caught the sunrise and blazed like lanterns against the dark alpine landscape.
The restless winds of the night had fallen silent. In their place, a perfect stillness settled over the lake, creating a mirror so flawless that mountain, forest, and sky seemed suspended between two worlds. Every golden larch, every weathered boulder, and every jagged ridge was reflected with breathtaking clarity.
Standing there, warmed by the first rays of sunlight after hours of cold and uncertainty, the challenges of the previous night melted away. Moments like these are the reward for venturing into the wilderness: not just the destination, but the privilege of witnessing nature at its most fleeting and beautiful. For a few precious minutes, Horseshoe Lake held the entire autumn landscape in its glassy surface, and Mount Stuart stood watch above it all, illuminated by a new day.

I was able to spend four days in the Enchantment zones. Shot over 2000 frames which I’m processing down to final images. Will be posting them soon!

Currents of Solitude
A winding mountain stream carves a quiet path through ancient granite and larch, drawing the eye toward a skyline of jPrussik Peak beneath a restless, painted sky. The interplay of flowing water, weathered stone, and towering wilderness creates a moment that feels both timeless and fleeting.

This landscape invites reflection on nature's enduring rhythm, where every rock, current, and cloud tells a story shaped over centuries. Currents of Solitude celebrates the harmony of movement and stillness, offering a peaceful window into the untouched beauty of the alpine world.

Overlooked Emerald
This is the small, often ignored, Little Colchuck Lake. Not only does this little gem lie in the shadows of Dragontail and Colchuck peaks, it fails to get much attention next to its larger more dramatic namesake.
This is from my dashiki last Wednesday, a beautiful day!!! K]=Last night the are already received it's first snow of the season.

Enchanted Waters
An image from my day hike to the Enchantments.

Nestled in the heart of Washington’s Enchantments, crystal-clear waters and polished granite frame a tranquil view of Little Annapurna. A gentle cascade winds through alpine larch and stone, capturing the timeless beauty and rugged serenity of this iconic wilderness landscape.
