I'm Ryan a jack of trades, stay-at-home dad who enjoys photography. I started shooting years ago after buying a camera while working at a local Best Buy. At first I started with what I enjoyed the most: outdoor/nature style photography, which I still have a love for today; however, I was asked, numerous times, why not branch out and try shooting people. My answer was always the same, it is too rig
id! Everything is posed, stiff, unnatural, etc, why would I want to do that? Well eventually I was out hiking in the woods with my wife, and I decided to take a few random shots of her while walking. Turns out I enjoyed photographing people. It started me on a new drive to do more with my camera; of course I also wanted to know why was it so enjoyable, what made those few pictures exciting to take? After a bit of pondering I realized that the photos weren't what I believed most "portraits" become, lifeless; they were natural, showing emotion and spirit. To me that made all the difference! I enjoy what I do and having people light up when they see my work after a shoot. My goal is to keep it simple. Will there be "posed/planned" photos? yes; however, the desire is to capture who or what is really there. Want to move and act funny on a sidewalk? Love the statue look sitting in a tree? Whatever your thoughts, they are what should be aimed for. My creed is to capture natural, true to life moments. It might take time, but photography should be fun and exciting, not a chore where everyone says, "Joy mom wants photos... again!"
Send me a message, and I'll be happy to listen to your thoughts - in person, over the phone, etc - so we can come up with the best shoot for you. Even if not really sure what you desire talking is a good place to start.
