I followed the Christa Pike case for days before realizing it had a connection to back home.

She grew up near my hometown in West Virginia. Seeing this photo on Facebook and hearing familiar places mentioned in a story like this caught me off guard.

But I also want to remember Colleen Slemmer, who was just 19 when her life was taken.

The hometown connection surprised me.

My mom fixed these all the time. ❤️ Fried taters and onions. It wasn’t fancy (or healthy), but they were so good.

It’s funny how a simple meal can bring back memories of home.
