I remember the exact day I thought, “Dang, birds are cool.”

I was walking through the woods looking for places to hunt when I came across a pond created by beavers. Standing at the edge of the clearing, a Carolina Wren landed less than two feet from me and started singing.

For several minutes it bounced around the area, completely unbothered by my presence.

That moment changed how I see the world.

It taught me to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the beauty that’s all around us instead of rushing from one thing to the next.

The impact was so profound that I named one of my children after these birds.
