Nikkor AF-S VR 70-200 2.8 G for sale! Well loved and needs to have the focus ring serviced by Nikon (or your favorite camera store) as it sticks, but takes amazing, sharp photos, and produces beautiful bokeh. For example images, basically all my telephoto images over the past 15 years or so were taken with this lens. I want to upgrade and would rather put the money into a new lens as opposed to fixing this one. This is from the pro line of lenses and would be a great, affordable option for a newbie/someone who wants their first telephoto zoom. These lenses were over $2k new. Sold as-is. Let me know if you have any questions. $500 (prefer to sell in-person but will ship at buyer's cost).

For those unaware, Mya was diagnosed with osteosarcoma a little more than 3 months ago. The initial diagnosis predicted that we would only have 2-4 weeks with her. A follow-up with a specialist gave us 4 months. This was an especially difficult diagnosis as we just lost our male shepherd, Kaiser, to a different cancer about 7 months ago.

We did not expect Mya to do as well as she has been (all things considered) as this is an aggressive and very painful cancer. Aside from having a lack of appetite she is hanging in there and still trying to play with her favorite toys. She also enjoys short walks and outings and is otherwise acting normal. You may even see her on one of our socialization walks, if she is up for it! She is currently on a combination of medications for pain management to help keep her comfortable.

Her birthday was this month, so we wanted to do something special for her. Enter: an 11th birthday photo shoot! Mya has always been a great sport for all my crazy ideas. She gets tons of treats during our photo endeavors and is generally pretty darn patient with me. We hope you enjoy these photos and please send Mya all the good juju you can! Thank you, everyone, for your kind and supportive words. I have read every single message and they brought some comfort and warmed my heart. Kaiser loved hard, played hard, worked hard, and was an amazing ambassador for the breed. He was my boy. Such a good boy. And I will never forget our many adventures together.

To our loyal followers: We are devastated to share that Kaiser, of the original Fur Crew, lost his battle with cancer today. We spent all day with him and reminisced by looking through photos that spanned his entire life. He fought hard, but the cancer was relentless so the kindest decision was made, given the circumstances. Kaiser loved to work and learn, loved children, loved his fur-sisters, was always a patient model for my many photography ideas, and was an amazing advocate for the breed. The world will not be the same without him. Sending a huge thank you to Five Freedoms Photography: Raleigh Pet Photographer for capturing us together before things took a turn for the worst. Hug your fur babies tight and toss them an extra treat today.

Calling all doggy businesses!

We are looking for dog - related businesses that would be interested in being a vendor for the second annual Buggs Island Barktoberfest in Clarksville, VA (just over the VA/NC border on Kerr Lake). The event will be held Saturday October 7th from 10am - 3pm

We are looking for the following businesses:

- Dog clothes
- Bows/Bowties, scarves, flower crowns, etc
- Natural chews, treats, muffins, dehydrated goodies, cakes etc
- TOYS, including enrichment items such as snuffle mats and licky mats.
- life jackets, harnesses, and other utilitarian items
- dog collars and leashes
- t-shirts/tanks/sweatshirts with doggy related graphics
- pet portrait artist (watercolor, acrylics, oils, graphite etc)
- house related goods (signs, doormats, figurines, mugs, etc)

We are also seeking a business that would be interested in putting on an agility demonstration.

Do you have Halloween plans this weekend or will you celebrate on the 31st? Or both? If you dress up your furbabies, post a photo in the comments below! This is a photo I took of Mya (L) and Kaiser (R), both german shepherds. Spooky!

A few things to remember:

- Some dogs aren't comfortable being dressed up and that's ok! If you have a nervous pup, stick to a snazzy bandana or collar to keep anxiety levels low.

- Halloween candy is not healthy for dogs. Dark chocolate and anything containing xylitol is especially dangerous.

- If you decide to take your dog trick-or-treating, be aware that the experience may be a bit overwhelming. Large crowds of happy children running around, sometimes screaming, combined with the spooky decorations (that sometimes move on their own!), can be scary. Please only consider bringing your dog if you know they will be comfortable around all the activities.

- Be sure to clean up after the kiddos AND keep the candy out of your pup's reach. The wrappers are enticing because they still smell yummy and once eaten can cause blockages. Even unwrapped treats can be eaten whole, also causing digestive issues.

- Make sure your dog has their collar on with up to date contact information, just in case they sneak out the door while you are greeting trick or treaters. Better yet, separate them from the from hallway with a baby gate or unfolded x-pen. This way they can still see what is going on but cannot escape. If your dog finds costumes scary or constant visitors to the door stressful, give them a yummy chew, stuffed kong, or licky mat in another room away from the front of the house.
