The history behind our name.

Dixie Ann was the first dog to ever be a member of our family. She was adopted from the Carroll County Humane Society in Westminster, MD. We were so lucky to have her. Dixie was the sweetest dog despite her history of being abused. She became an alert dog for my mother’s medical conditions as she would come and alert me when my mother was having difficulty no matter what it was and no matter the time of day. She later became nursing home and Hospice certified to enter the premises to be a therapy dog for the patients. Following my mother’s death in 2007, Dixie’s health started declining, seeming as though she felt she completed her job. She proceeded to have to have a leg amputated due to a cancerous cyst that occurred. Dixie remained with us until she crossed the rainbow bridge in 2011 at the age of 17.

When the time came to name my photography business, there was no question that I wanted to honor her in the name as she had such an impact on my life. Thus the name, Dixie Photography.

We are slowly opening back up and booking shoots! As always, we only shoot on site. Due to COVID-19 regulations, shoots will be limited to places that are not crowded or of large groups.
