I’ve been using AI in my photo workflow for almost two years, so here’s the practical truth.
Imagen AI handles the repetitive editing work fast, but I still cull, review every image, crop, make black and white decisions, and fix anything that needs a manual touch. Photoshop generative fill helps with retouching and removing distractions in seconds.
My honest take: AI isn’t replacing photographers.
It’s replacing the hours of repetitive technical work.
The eye, instinct, timing, and direction are still human.
The 20 minutes vs 20 hours in post? I’ll take 20 minutes.
If you’re curious about what parts of my workflow are AI vs human, DM me ‘AI’.”.

Most businesses treat video like a one time project. You need a brand video, you hire someone, you film it, you’re done.
That can work, but it’s not how the businesses that stay visible month after month operate.
The ones who win aren’t commissioning a new production every time they need content. They have an ongoing relationship with a team that understands their brand, knows their customers, and shows up regularly to document what they do.
That’s what a video retainer looks like.
Consistent coverage throughout the year. Monthly or quarterly shoots. Content that builds on itself. A growing library of video assets you can use across your website, Google, ads, and social.
The advantage isn’t just the content. It’s the consistency.
Consistency builds trust, and trust is what turns a viewer into a customer.
If you’re a service business in NEPA and you want to be the first name people think of, DM me “RETAINER” and I’ll send what our monthly options look like.

If you don’t know what to film for your business, start here.
In 20 minutes I’d capture: your sign, you or your team working, close-up details, a clear customer result, and one quick line to camera: ‘Here’s who we help.’ Then we grab still photos from those same moments for your website and Google.
DM me ‘SHOT LIST’ + what kind of business you run and I’ll send a version tailored to you.

One shoot day should not equal one video.
When we plan it right, one day can turn into weeks of content: short clips, a brand video, product or service videos, plus photos for your website, Google, and ads.
If you’re in NEPA, DM me ‘SHOT PLAN’ and I’ll send what we capture in a single day.

I don’t outsource editing because I’m lazy.
I outsource because it protects my time and improves the final product.
That’s how we keep projects moving, stay consistent, and spend more time shooting and serving clients.
If you’re a business owner who needs consistent photo + video without it becoming a second job, DM me ‘SYSTEM’.

If your posts are mostly ‘book now’ or ‘we’re open,’ this is why nobody reacts.
People don’t share announcements. They share clarity and proof.
If you want, DM me your business type and I’ll send 3 post ideas you can film this week.

Bad audio will kill a good video faster than anything else.
I learned that early and invested in audio before almost anything else in my kit.
The setup — a DJI Mic 2 with a Sanken COS-11D lavalier.
The DJI handles the wireless. Reliable, compact, plenty of range. But the microphone itself is the part most people overlook.
The lav that comes with most wireless systems is adequate. The Sanken is broadcast quality. It’s what you hear on professional film sets and news productions. The difference in how it captures voice and handles less than ideal conditions is significant.
For weddings I run a backup audio source too. Because the one moment you lose audio is the vow exchange. And that moment does not come back.
Audio is invisible when it works. Catastrophic when it doesn’t.
Invest in audio early. Before the next lens. Before the next body.
It’s the most underrated investment in this entire industry.

Loved filming the start of this series of workshops by Everything Natural. Topic: High Blood Pressure and Natural ways to lower it.

If you’re a NEPA business owner hosting talks, trainings, or community events, don’t let it disappear after one night. Capture it once and turn it into weeks of content.

Early in my career I got hired for a job that was unlike anything I had done before.
I can’t tell you who it was or what it was for. But I can tell you what I learned from it.
The budget was around a thousand dollars. The expectation was fifty thousand dollar production quality.
I went in confident. Maybe too confident. But I believed I could deliver something at a level the budget didn’t reflect.
I think I did fairly well given what I had to work with.
But here’s what I couldn’t control. The main subject.
No matter how good your lighting is. No matter how clean your audio is. No matter how well you frame every shot. If the person in front of your camera isn’t ready for that moment, there is nothing you can do about it in the edit.
That was the variable I didn’t account for going in.
Today I would handle that job differently. Better gear, more experience, and a very different conversation before we ever started rolling about what the subject needed to bring to their side of the camera.
A great production is only half the job.
The other half is the person you’re pointing it at.

Video strategy isn’t complicated. Most business owners just overthink it.

Here’s what it actually means for a small service business in NEPA.

Know what you’re trying to say before you film anything. What does your business do, who does it serve, what do you want a customer to feel.

Have a plan for where the video goes. Your website. Your Instagram. Your Google business profile. Not posted once and forgotten.

Show up consistently. One video is a moment. Ten videos over six months is a presence.

Measure something. More calls. More website visits. More people walking in saying they saw it.

Most businesses skip all four steps. They post when they feel like it and wonder why it doesn’t work.

Strategy is just intention applied consistently.

That’s what separates the businesses people can’t stop talking about from the ones nobody remembers.
