They planned an AMAZING backyard wedding in PA while living in ALASKA! šŸ»ā€ā„ļø

Juliana and Ken, along with their awesome family, are the perfect example of how teamwork can make for the perfect wedding day. I wish I could honestly say what kind of fairytale magic they had working behind the scenes to make it all happen, but they sure did. I’ve worked at some very well known venues where things did not run this smoothly or look this good 🫣.

And when the inevitable little hiccups happened, because let’s be honest, they happen at EVERY wedding, they took them in stride and let them become part of their story. Just look at Ken with the boombox šŸ˜‚.

Between the beautiful landscape, a ceremony setting that rivals some of the best I’ve ever photographed, a golden hour that absolutely HIT, and a day that just flowed perfectly, this was one of those weddings that could honestly serve as a blueprint for how to do it right.

Juliana and Ken, thank you so much for having me as your photographer! It was an absolute blast being part of your day and capturing all of it. ā¤ļø

One thing I absolutely love is planning sessions! Caitlin and Mark reached out wanting to do their engagement photos at a fair. Unfortunately, the only day they were available was a Saturday, and I knew it was going to be SUPER busy. But I’m never one to back down from a challenge šŸ˜šŸ™ƒ

At the same time, I wanted to make sure they got some ā€œsafeā€ photos in a more secluded location that really just highlighted the two of them. So, we started at a local cliffside park with an incredible view before making our way to Wayne County Fair for some fun!

It ended up making for such an incredible mix of moments. We got the quiet, romantic photos that really showcase their connection, along with the fun, playful moments that show just how much they love having a good time together. I can’t wait to capture their wedding New Leaf Farm in October!

I loved growing up in a small town. In Pittston, everyone knows everyone! When Maria and Matt reached out, I knew almost immediately, just by their last names, that they grew up in the Pittston/West Pittston area. Somehow, we never crossed paths as kids, but we immediately hit it off talking about going to ā€œthe other school on the other side of the riverā€ and all the connections we have to the area.

So, I was STOKED when they said they wanted to do their engagement session right here in Pittston! It was a cloudy day, but the sun decided to peek through just as we made our way to the riverfront park, which made for some seriously awesome photos.

Then we headed over to the other side of the river to grab a few photos with their awesome pug, Spike! 🐶
I seriously can’t wait for their wedding in May! ā¤ļø

When I got on a call with Sara and David, they told me that they connected over baseball. Both were Division 1 players in college and knew each other back in the day (Sara was David’s boss at her training facility šŸ‘Š). Fate brought them together more recently as a couple, and they are getting married in October!

They wanted a baseball theme engagement session, and of course I had to go big! I used my ā€œconnectionsā€ (Thanks ) to get ahold of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and book PNC field. It was magical! The light hit just right and we got to spend some quality time on the field having some fun celebrating this awesome couple!

As an aside, everyone connected to the stadium were the absolute best people ever. They were super accommodating leading up to and on the day of the session and very communicative and understanding. I highly recommend it if you’re a baseball fan!

I need answers, lol. Seriously! What’s with the ghosting lately? Couples, what’s the deal? Photographers, what are you doing different or have you had the same thing?

I absolutely love photographing the big, crazy wedding days, but there’s something really special about the smaller, intimate ones. They have a way of slowing everything down and letting the emotion shine through in every photo.

When Jess reached out about a Monday wedding at their home, I was immediately intrigued. Then I realized I had taught her two soon-to-be sons at school, and the connection was instant.

Not only was it awesome to photograph a wedding literally three minutes from my house šŸ™ŒšŸ», but getting to capture a day in a place that already meant so much to them made it even more special. There were so many little details that made their home the perfect backdrop for their story (and of course, I can’t share all of those because it’s their home).

By the end of the day, I honestly felt like part of the family. I’m so grateful they trusted me to capture such an incredible day, and I can’t wait for them to relive these moments for years to come.

In the world of social media, it feels like we all have to be connected 24/7. I do my best to keep up with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Zola, and email, but if you want to make sure I see your message as quickly as possible, the best place to reach out is through my website: ericboylanphotography.com.

I know some couples get a little nervous when they hear I like to hop on a quick call, but I promise it’s laid-back and genuinely one of the most important parts of the process. It’s not a just a sales pitch—it’s just a chance for us to get to know each other and make sure we’re a great fit. In fact, there have been times where I’ve talked with a couple and realized another photographer would be a better match for them. When that happens, I’m always happy to point them in the right direction. Your experience matters more to me than simply booking another wedding.

Once we decide we’re a great fit, everything else is super easy. Your proposal, contract, invoice, and questionnaires are all handled online, so everything is in one place and easy to access whenever you need it.

My goal is to make the entire experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible—from your first inquiry all the way to your wedding day.

I always love pointing out the ā€œconnectionā€ to my couples, but this one is just plain crazy.

A while back, I got an inquiry on Zola from an awesome couple, Wren (Wren) and Rachel (Ray Levy), who wanted photos that felt ā€œsilly, authentic, and full of love.ā€ Naturally, I did a little Facebook sleuthing and realized I used to work with Wren’s dad! Of course, I had to reply and point out our own version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon... except with their dad, Mike.

We immediately hit it off. We have a lot in common (they even lived in Scranton for a while), and they said my photography style was exactly what they were looking for.

Then they told me they love theatre. Well... you know I had to go all in.

Not only did we do their engagement session in a theatre, we did it in America’s oldest theatre, Walnut Street Theatre. Getting to wander through that incredible space and create photos that were truly silly, authentic, and full of love was an absolute blast.

A huge thank you to T.J. Sokso for helping make this happen. To my followers, if you’re a theatre fan, you have to check this place out.

Now all that’s left is the wedding at one of my favorite venues, Lazaretto Ballroom, this June. I seriously can’t wait.

Bad news, I’m NOT Taylor Swift’s photographer. That’s OK, I’ll shake it off and tell your love story. Don’t blame me when you get gorgeous photos of your best day. You’ll cry over photos you couldn’t imagine in your wildest dreams. Long story short, I wish you would reach out. Peace āœŒļø.
