Wow!!!
That was some fierce crackling lightning that just came through here with a thunderstorm!
I hope it didn't hit anything and everyone stayed safe.
Now that we have finally warmed up here in Vermont, tis the season.

Jeff & Deb * May 30, 2026
I stopped doing weddings about a year and a half ago, except for family and friends.
Last fall my friends Jeff Mangan & Deb Gragen asked if I would do theirs.
Of course I said yes.
It was at the Wallingford Lodge this afternoon. The rain stopped a few hours before, and while still very chilly, the sun came out to warm it up a little.
It was a beautiful ceremony, officiated by Mike Colton, with music by Duane Carlton.
A beautiful day for this wonderful couple!

A beautiful sunset tonight after a gorgeous 74 degree day here in Vermont.
It seems like these days have been a long time coming after the long cold snowy winter we had this year!
Enjoy the next couple of days, because it looks like we will be back to 50 degree days for a while starting Thursday!

"Berger Maple Farm"
Late this afternoon I went to Wallingford Vermont to see my friends Steve & Connie Berger at Berger Maple Farm as they were boiling this afternoon.
Their son Scott was also there and grandson Cam.
Steve and Scott are partners in the maple business. They also own Berger Firewood together.
Today was the second day of boiling sap for them. Yesterday was the first.
They are a oil fired sugarhouse.
They have 15,000 taps and between yesterday and today will make 250-300 gallons of maple syrup.
All of their syrup goes into 55 gallon drums and they sell it in bulk.
It was a beautiful day today at 65 degrees and perfect for a trip to see their operation.

The Beland Family & Their Huge Christmas Tree.
Some of you may remember that back in 2017 I did a story about Tom & Kathy Beland and their huge Christmas tree.
They were ahead of me driving up the road with a gigantic Christmas tree hanging out of the back of their truck. 1/3 of the tree was in the truck, and 2/3rds of it was dragging on the road.
I had posted a photo of it, and Kathy had commented that it was their tree. I didn't know them at the time, but they very kindly invited me to their house in Clarendon to see the tree decorated and to take photos.
Sadly, Tom passed away in 2019, and Kathy, with the help of family and friends has kept the tradition of a huge Christmas tree going.
At the beginning of November this year, I was contacted by Kathys daughter Erin, wanting to know if I would be available the day after Christmas to take family photos with this years huge tree.
This was going to be a surprise for Kathy and they told her about it as a Christmas gift yesterday.
Erin told me that she wasn't sure how many more years they would be able to get a big tree, as it is quite the feat getting it into and set up in the house.
I went this afternoon and did the photos.
Kathy told me that this years tree is 19' tall. She said this year they lost 1 picket from the staircase railing, and one small hole in the wall.
