I had TWO newborn sessions yesterday, which is something I rarely do! 😅

There’s a reason for that; newborn photographers spend a surprising amount of time squatting, bending, kneeling, and somehow folding themselves into positions that would make a chiropractor nervous.

But I've had a little baby boom lately, and sometimes the calendar says, "we're doing two!"

I can only share images from one of yesterday’s sessions, but I was so happy to have these two back in the studio again, this time with their sweet little one in their arms! And that hair, oh my heart!! 😍😍😍

Now I’m officially off for the rest of the week as we shift into graduation party prep mode for Johanna’s big day on Saturday!

Sweet Ella Rose 🌹

Her middle name was chosen in honor of her mom's sister, who passed away at just 17 years old. To celebrate that connection, we incorporated roses into her session, along with a special heirloom, a rosette adorned wrap that Mama wore as a baby herself.

One of my favorite things about newborn photography is finding ways to include meaningful pieces that help tell your family's story. Whether it's a blanket, outfit, or sentimental item, I'm always happy to incorporate those special touches whenever possible.

This first-year baby plan graduate had me all in my feels! He is boy #3 for some of my favorite clients, and I have shot maternity, newborn, six months, and one year for all of them now.

Clients like them are so very special to me, when their kids can walk into the studio and feel "at home" because it's so familiar to them. When they can tell me about their day and be silly with me. It's truly the greatest gift in this career.

It's been a little quiet around here lately, and honestly, I really needed it.

I don't think I fully realized just how busy this season would be. Between graduation, planning a grad party at our home, keeping up with two businesses, and trying to be present for my family, social media had to take a back seat for a little while.

The funny thing is, I've actually been photographing a ton. My camera roll is overflowing with sneak peeks, and many of the sessions I've been working on aren't ones I can share publicly. So while it may have looked quiet online, it's been anything but behind the scenes.

As business owners, creatives, and parents, I think we sometimes feel pressure to always be posting, always be showing up, and always be "on." The truth is that sometimes we need a break. Sometimes we need to step away from the screen and focus on the people and moments right in front of us.

I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for sticking around when I go quiet for a bit, for supporting my work, and for being excited when I pop back up in your feed again.

Now that things are settling down, I have lots to share and I can't wait to catch you up on everything that's been happening behind the lens.

From little girl photoshoots to her 18th birthday today, so many of you have watched my beautiful daughter, Jo, grow up in front of my lens over the years.

Last night she officially graduated from high school, and today she turns 18! It is an absolute whirlwind of a weekend for our family, and my heart is completely overflowing. Watching her step into adulthood is the greatest privilege of my life. Congratulations, Jo, I am so incredibly proud of you!

Photographer friends 👀

I’m putting out a little feeler to see if there may be another local photographer interested in photographing my daughter Johanna’s graduation party next month on Saturday, June 20th, at 4pm (just outside of Mt. Pleasant).

As a photographer, I KNOW how important these memories will be, but I also know I’m going to be running around hosting, hugging people, and probably emotionally spiraling half the day 😅
