From little girl photoshoots to her 18th birthday today, so many of you have watched my beautiful daughter, Jo, grow up in front of my lens over the years.

Last night she officially graduated from high school, and today she turns 18! It is an absolute whirlwind of a weekend for our family, and my heart is completely overflowing. Watching her step into adulthood is the greatest privilege of my life. Congratulations, Jo, I am so incredibly proud of you!

Photographer friends 👀

I’m putting out a little feeler to see if there may be another local photographer interested in photographing my daughter Johanna’s graduation party next month on Saturday, June 20th, at 4pm (just outside of Mt. Pleasant).

As a photographer, I KNOW how important these memories will be, but I also know I’m going to be running around hosting, hugging people, and probably emotionally spiraling half the day 😅

Listen… this week is A LOT in the Steffke household 😅

My daughter Johanna graduates on Thursday, turns 18 on Friday, and emotionally AND financially, senior year is really testing me at this point hahaha!

Between graduation, parties, senior everything, and realizing apparently every milestone costs approximately one million dollars….I figured, why not turn my emotional spiral into savings for all of you!!!

Class of 2027….your turn is almost here 🎓✨

Graduation for the Class of 2026 is happening in just a couple of weeks, and my calendar for upcoming seniors is already filling QUICKLY! I’m currently about half booked for senior season already.

If you’re hoping for summer sessions, peak fall colors, sports photos, or something else specific, now is definitely the time to start planning!

Every year I have families reach out later in the season, wishing they had booked sooner once schedules get busy and dates become limited.

Welcome to May…aka Maycember as I like to call it 😵‍💫

The month where everything happens all at once, and this year, it really means everything. School events, baseball, graduation, these two have May birthdays, grad party planning, running two businesses, all of it equals a calendar that is full every. single. day.

I carved out some time last week and took Johanna and Elliot out for these photos, and I don’t think I was prepared for how much it would hit me. Standing there, camera in hand, watching one who is finally done, and one who will be starting preschool in the fall…tears definitely fell behind the lens.

There’s something a little more rare about having kids this far apart in age. It’s beautiful getting to experience all these stages again, but if I’m being honest, it can be really hard too. You’re living in two completely different worlds at the same time, trying to be fully present for both ends of it.

Everything feels like it’s moving in hyper speed right now. One chapter closing, another beginning, and I’m just trying to hold onto all of it at the same time.

It’s beautiful, it’s overwhelming, and it's so so bittersweet.

If I’m a little behind on messages or a bit quiet on here, this is why. Just soaking in these moments while they’re here, because I know how quickly they pass.
