Gabrielle Cynthia Photography Michigan Wedding and Engagement photographer ✨ Hi there! My name is Gabrielle Lester, and I take photos. From then on out, it went everywhere with me.

When I was in the seventh grade, my first big purchase was a little digital camera. It was in my lap for road trips, and it had it’s own special pocket reserved in my school backpack. I’ve upgraded my gear since then, but I can still always be found with a camera bag on my arm. On the rare chance you catch me without a camera, I’ll either be outside with my dogs, or snuggled up at home with my hus

band planning our next adventure. Oh, and I’ll almost always have an iced coffee in hand. Thanks for stopping by, and I’m excited to meet you!

Your engagement session is about so much more than getting photos for your save-the-dates.

(Although those are a pretty fun bonus 😉)

One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is that they give us a chance to get to know each other before your wedding day.

You get to learn:
✨ how I guide you
✨ what it feels like to be photographed
✨ what kinds of moments I look for
✨ how we work together

And I get to learn:
✨ how you interact
✨ what makes you laugh
✨ what feels natural for you
✨ the little things that make your relationship yours

By the time your wedding day arrives, you aren’t spending the day with a stranger holding a camera.

You already know me.

You trust me.

And you know you don’t have to perform.

You just get to be present. 🤍

This is the kind of reaction I hope every couple has when they open their gallery.

Because your wedding photos should be more than images you like looking at.

They should make you feel something.

They should bring you right back to the emotions of the day.

The anticipation before walking down the aisle.

The way your partner looked at you for the first time.

The laughter with your favorite people.

The moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

That’s the part of photography I love most. Not just creating something beautiful, but creating something meaningful.

A wedding day moves so quickly, and there are so many moments happening all around you. My goal is to preserve those moments in a way that feels honest, emotional, and true to your story.

So when you look back years from now, I don’t want you to just remember what your wedding looked like.

I want you to remember what it felt like.

I’m so grateful I get to be trusted with something as important as this. 🤍

There’s a lot happening behind the camera that you never see.

While you’re enjoying your wedding day, I’m constantly watching, noticing, and anticipating.

I’m paying attention to who your people are.

The way your mom looks at you.
The friend who has been by your side through every season.
The grandparent who traveled to celebrate you.
The quiet moments between your closest people.

I’m watching the light.

I’m thinking about the timeline.

I’m noticing when you need a moment to breathe.

I’m making tiny adjustments that help your day feel smoother without you ever realizing it happened.

Because wedding photography isn’t just about knowing how to use a camera.

It’s about knowing people.

It’s about understanding moments.

It’s about being present enough to recognize something meaningful before it disappears.

The best images often happen in a split second.

And my job is to be ready when they do. 🤍

This is exactly the kind of experience I hope every couple has on their wedding day.

Because your wedding photographer’s job goes so far beyond taking photos.

Yes, I’m there to document the moments you’ve spent months planning, but I’m also there to help you feel calm when things don’t go exactly as expected.

The timeline runs behind.

The weather changes.

Something unexpected happens.

And instead of letting those moments take away from your experience, I want you to feel like you have someone beside you who knows how to adapt, problem-solve, and keep you focused on what actually matters.

Your wedding day only happens once. You shouldn’t have to spend it worrying about what’s next or trying to manage every little detail.

You should be able to look around, take a deep breath, and soak it all in.

Getting to become a familiar face, a calming presence, and sometimes even a friend by the end of the process is one of the greatest honors of this job.

I’m so grateful for couples who trust me not only with their memories, but with such an important season of their lives.

Michigan couples planning an intentional wedding day, I’d love to hear your story.

“But we’re awkward in photos…”

I hear this all the time.

Before an engagement session. Before a wedding day. Sometimes even before couples book me.

And I always want to remind them of this:

You are not awkward. You are not “bad” at photos. You are not someone who just “isn’t photogenic.”

Most people have just never been photographed in a way that feels natural.

A lot of us grew up thinking photos meant standing still, forcing a smile, looking at the camera, and trying to create a “perfect” version of ourselves.

But your wedding day isn’t about performing.

It’s about the way your partner makes you laugh when no one else is around. The way you squeeze their hand when you’re overwhelmed. The way you look at each other when you realize, “we’re actually doing this.”

Those are the moments you’ll want to remember.

My job isn’t to turn you into models or make you act like someone you’re not. It’s to create an environment where you can relax, be yourselves, and trust that I’ll notice the little things.

I’ll give you guidance when you need it. I’ll help you feel comfortable. But I’ll never ask you to force a moment that doesn’t feel like you.

Because the most beautiful photos aren’t the ones where you look perfect.

They’re the ones where you look like yourselves. 🤍

So if you’ve been thinking, “we’re awkward in photos…”

I hope you know you’re probably exactly the kind of couple I love photographing.

So… what actually happens during an engagement session?

Probably not what you’re imagining. 😉

A lot of couples show up nervous because they’re picturing standing in one spot, awkwardly smiling at the camera for an hour.

But that’s not how I approach sessions.

We’ll start slow.

We’ll talk.
We’ll walk around.
We’ll get comfortable.

I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’ll also give you space to just interact naturally.

I’ll ask you to do things that feel like you.

Maybe it’s walking together.
Maybe it’s telling each other a story.
Maybe it’s laughing about something only the two of you understand.

The goal isn’t to create a bunch of poses.

The goal is to create moments.

By the end of your session, my hope is that you don’t feel like you “survived” taking photos.

I hope you feel like you spent an hour slowing down and enjoying each other. 🤍

There is so much pressure to create a “perfect” wedding day.

The perfect timeline.

The perfect weather.

The perfect details.

The perfect photos.

But the truth is… the moments that become the most meaningful usually aren’t the ones that go exactly according to plan.

They’re the moments in between.

The laugh you didn’t expect.
The hug that lasted longer than you thought it would.
The tears you tried to hold back.
The way your partner looks at you when no one else is paying attention.

Your wedding day is not a photoshoot.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the people you love most.

And my job isn’t to make everything look flawless.

My job is to preserve the things that made your day yours.

The messy moments.
The emotional moments.
The moments that couldn’t have been recreated if you tried.

Because years from now, you probably won’t care if every detail was perfect.

You’ll care that you can look back and remember exactly how it felt.

That’s the kind of story I want your photos to tell.

One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is getting to see couples relax into the process.

Because I know a lot of people show up thinking:

“We’re awkward in photos.”

“We don’t know what to do.”

“We’ve never done anything like this before.”

And that’s completely okay.

You don’t have to know how to pose. You don’t have to know what to do with your hands. You don’t have to magically become comfortable in front of a camera.

That’s my job.

My goal is to create an experience where you can focus on each other while I guide you, encourage you, and capture the little moments that happen naturally along the way.

The laughs, the quiet moments, the way you look at each other when you forget the camera is there.

Those are the images that feel the most like you.

Your engagement session is more than just a chance to get photos before your wedding day. It’s a chance for us to get comfortable together, build trust, and celebrate this season of life you’re in right now.

I’m so grateful I get to be part of these moments. 🤍

Your engagement session isn’t about getting the “perfect” photos.

It’s about getting comfortable being yourselves together in front of the camera.

I know a lot of couples come into their session thinking:

“We’re awkward.”
“We don’t know what to do.”
“We’re not photogenic.”

But here’s the thing…

Your engagement session isn’t a test you have to pass.

You don’t need to show up knowing how to pose.
You don’t need to know where to put your hands.
You don’t need to become someone different for the camera.

My job is to create space for you to relax, connect, and just be together.

We’ll laugh.
We’ll move.
We’ll talk.
We’ll take a minute when something feels natural.

Because the best photos aren’t created when you’re performing.

They happen when you forget you’re being photographed.

Your engagement session is the first step in creating a wedding gallery that feels like you. 🤍

“Gabrielle Cynthia Photography is more than just a photographer. Gabbie truly becomes a friend by the end of the process.”

This is one of the biggest compliments I could receive because that is exactly what I hope every couple feels when they work with me.

Of course, I want you to love your photos. I want you to have images that bring you right back to the emotions, the people, and the moments that made your wedding day yours.

But more than that, I want you to feel comfortable. I want you to feel cared for. I want you to feel like you can fully be yourselves because you trust the person documenting it all.

Your wedding photographer is with you through some of the most meaningful moments of your day, so having someone you connect with matters.

The best photos happen when you don’t feel like you have to perform. They happen when you can laugh, cry, be a little silly, and just enjoy the person you’re marrying.

I’m so grateful I got to be part of this season of their lives and that I get to walk away from so many wedding days with not just a gallery, but a genuine connection with my couples.

Thank you for trusting me with something so important.

Michigan couples planning a wedding that feels like you, I would love to hear your story.
