This year I took a real interest in capturing photos of hummingbirds. We are in "summer layover" area and a flyway when the hummingbirds fly south to South America. We recently spent a few days in Rockport, TX to see the hummingbirds on their migration journey in September. It was fascinating and ive never seen so many hummingbirds in one place. I've attached some of my favorite photos as well as my link to my website gallery if you would enjoy seen more of these amazing birds & others.

I recently visited a Texas State Park that was so close to home, I didn't know it existed. Not but 30 minutes from home is a diamond on the rough- McKinney Falls State Park. This park is about 640 acres and is quiet, has beautiful falls, trees and wildlife. A few photos from my 3 day trip.

I've been spending the last 3 years, photographing exclusively in the Texas State Parks and Big Bend National Park. On my website, I have a gallery devoted exclusively to Texas State Parks and the diverse beauty that the bring from flora, fauna to landscapes. Over the next few months I will be sharing photos from the different parks that I've visited. If you want to see more photos or make a purchase for someone else or your home you can view my website at BrianbFoxphotography.com.

Here is a sampling of some of the parks that I will showcase in the upcoming months--

Hello!! It's been quite a while since I've posted on my "Brian B Fox Photography" page. At lot has been happening over the last year and it's time to focus on my photgraphy adventures and sharing my passion with y'all (my Texas influence after almost 2 incredible years in Texas with Joan). I have been visiting many Texas State Parks as well as Big Bend National Park (the largest NP in the United States).
I'm sharing one of my latest accompishments of recent- having a couple of my photos selected to be part of an on-line gallery of National Park photographs from across the United States. Here is a quick look at my photos that are part of this fanatastic colletcton of amazing captures of National Parks that surround us. Miy photos were taken in my new favorite NP- Big Bend, of course in Texas! I'm also providing the link so that you can view the entire on-line gallery. Taking a photo with your iPhone? Want best results? Shoot in RAW. I use an App called Halide when I need as good of a photo that I can get when shooting with my iPhone Xs. Halide lets you shoot in raw, meaning you get to play with ALL of the pixels in post processing vs. just 20% of the pixels. In the photos below, first one was shot with the regular phone camera & the other using Halide App. Both were post processed with a program called Aurora. Result would have been the same no matter what post processing program I used. Amazingly better results with your iPhone when you want it with your landcape, wildlife or any phone photo. What do you think?? By the way- this was a heavy crop of both. My daughter has about 5 of these screech owls hanging out in her front yard trees.

I love to shoot old buildings. I found this one near the small town of Hunter, TX. Same building, different looks.

COLORFUL FLOWERS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR SOUL

I was out shooting flowers around the beautiful pond that is in our new neighborhood near Austin, Texas. I was thinking just how beautiful the flowers were and how they brought such enjoyment to me whether they were at the pond, on my computer, but most importantly, in a photo hanging on a wall in our home. Flowers bring a brightness and a sense of beauty into the home in a vase or on the wall. A beautiful floral photograph can draw you into that image and bring a sense of enjoyment and comfort, as if you were seeing it where it was shot.

I have decided to offer a gallery of flower images on my website that show the comfort and beauty that you can bring into your home, office, or even on your computer/phone. We are in some never before experienced times and if I can bring some hope and joy into someone’s life through my photography, then I have succeeded in my pursuit.

I have created a specific gallery on my website called “COLORFUL FLOWERS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR SOUL”. I have brought the cost down to a very affordable price and for the first time, I’m offering Digital Downloads (full size resolution) so that if you don’t wish to purchase a photo medium of paper, canvas or metal through my site- you can purchase the digital file and download it for your personal use. This allows you to have that photo printed in any format from any location you choose. You can also use the digital image on your phone and computer. My website photo purchases are printed by Bay Photo- a professional, high quality print company, and delivered directly to your home.

Please go to my website- brianBfoxphotography.com and browse the “COLORFUL FLOWERS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR SOUL” gallery.

As I shoot new inspiring photos, I will add them to the gallery. None of these images are in my other galleries, they are exclusive to “Colorful Flowers to Brighten Your Soul” gallery.

Understanding- To Photoshop or not to Photoshop?

Often people will ask if I have "Photoshopped a picture. They wonder if it is what it looked like out of the camera or weather or not I "changed" what it really looked like. Here is why photographers post-process photos. The first photo is what came out of my camera 100% untouched. It is not what my eyes saw, it was how my camera functioned in there very difficult lighting of the slot canyon last year at Zion Nat'l Park. I had to use photoshop to work with all of the pixels that my camera's sensor recorded onto my SD Card. Adjusting the light allows for the colors to come out of the sky, the rocks, the highlights mad the shadows so that you can see what I saw when taking the picture. The camera is not nearly as good as our eyes and brain working in conjunction to actually "see". No clouds added, nothing taken out, just adjustments to the pixels.

So when people ask,, "did you photoshop that?", I say "of course". If I hadn't, you wouldn't even want to see it, you would have to go to where it was taken, at the same time of year, the same time of day with the same weather conditions. The post processing is what allows me to be the artist in finalizing my photos.

While iPhones or Androids do take nice photos, you are limited in your photo processing vs bringing a photo into a more advanced computer based processing program. This photo was shot from my iPhone Xs- photos are Originial out of phone, original processed with phone software, processed on computer in Photoshop and processed on computer in Luminar 4. These were all quick processing, PS the longest (5 Min) as I started in Camera Raw and then made a couple of selections. Photos are in the order as they are described above.

On my latest trip to Yosemite in November, my goal was to shoot landscapes in Black & White.
Here are some of those Black and White shots - They were viewed on my back screen in B&W, but converted from color files. I love color, but the various hues of B&W hold their own special feel.
