Silent Ledger
There’s something captivating about the quiet strength of old architecture — the symmetry, the shadows, the sense of stories behind heavy doors.

Found this little moment of urban character today, and it stopped me long enough to appreciate the beauty in the details we usually walk right past.

Gears at Rest

Time leaves its mark differently on machinery.

I found this old road grader sitting quietly against an open rural backdrop, its gears and steel surfaces worn by years of work and weather. What caught my attention wasn’t just the rust or texture — it was the complexity hidden inside something most people would drive past without a second thought.

Converting this image to black and white helped bring out the grit, contrast, and character of the machine itself. Every gear, bolt, and curve felt like part of a larger story about labor, endurance, and the passage of time.

Outdoor art shows are always unpredictable.

You spend weeks preparing work and then hope the right people walk into the booth and connect with something.

That conversation - hearing what someone sees in a photograph - is still one of my favorite parts of showing work.

If you're coming to Art on the Green this weekend, I hope you'll stop by for a while.

Kaveneys Soda Facade

I recently photographed this mid‑20th‑century storefront in a small Illinois commercial district. The red façade retains its original painted signage—weathering and flaked paint reveal decades of continuous community use and preservation. Framed between two antique shops, the composition portrays ongoing efforts to maintain local commercial heritage amid economic change.

This is how I envisioned the final shot when I took it—frontal, level, and tightly composed to preserve architectural detail and the tactile quality of the brick and enamel signage.

I'll also be bringing several canvas prints to Art on the Green.

Canvas changes the feel of an image completely - softer edges, more texture, and a more substantial presence on the wall.

Featured canvas pieces:
Boondock'd
Train to Nowhere
Windmill Outside Onarga

I'm looking forward to seeing which images people connect with this year.

Another in a series of arrows. This one is actually in an alley where I had previously photographed a different arrow. I call that a bonus.
