Look at the shadows cutting across her and the wall, that’s what creates that depth. Then the red glow in the back separates everything so it doesn’t fall flat.

Same setup without that light control would look regular, flat, very mayonnaise.

Yall keep overthinking off camera flash when it’s really just about placement and control.

Light 🔦 is what makes your images POP!! Gives it that WOW factor.
It doesn’t have to be this dramatic but the shadows and highlights are what gives a portrait that DEPTH and depth is what makes images pop off the screen/canvas!!

Off-Camera Flash👇🏽

Set your camera settings based on your end goal (depth of field, shutter speed, ISO, etc). Take a picture, turn the light power up or down. Move it closer or further away.

Most photographers aren’t struggling because they don’t have the right gear…
they’re struggling because they’ve been overcomplicating lighting.

In this video, a photographer pulled up on me like,
“Adam, I got a shoot tomorrow and all I have is a $75 speedlight… can you help?”

So I showed him exactly how to get clean, professional-looking photos using:
a cheap speedlight, a trigger, and a softbox.

No complicated formulas.
No confusing lighting diagrams.
No “one stop this, two stops that” nonsense.

2 things I’ll never fix my lips to say:
1. Ai is going to take my job.
2. The photographer charging less is hurting everyone else’s business.

I SWEAR I don’t pay either of those things any attention when it comes to my business. I focus 100% on my business, think of ways to leverage those factors to my benefit to make more money and keep it pushing.

Can’t nothing mess up your business but you!

See how the light feathers off into that smooth gradient behind her, but she’s still clean, sharp, and separated? Yeah, that’s the light modifier doing it's thing.

Same setup could’ve looked basic, but using different modifiers can make portraits feel expensive. Meaning you can charge more!

Most people don’t avoid photoshoots because they don’t want good pictures. They avoid them because they think they’ll look awkward, don’t know how to pose, or assume they’re “not photogenic.” The truth is, confidence ISN’T something that most ppl bring to a shoot, it’s something the right photographer creates for you.
You don’t have to perform… you just have to show up.
