Hey hello it’s meeee!! Your friendly neighborhood photog 🫶🏼 I have not shown up on here with fresh brand photos for literal years now 😅 but that was all changed thanks to the amazing !! She made me feel so comfortable and we chatted for hours about motherhood, photography, and what it all takes for balance in this crazy time ((Something that I’ve come to peace about that I’ll never truly find in this lifetime 😅 and I’m ok with that 😅))

My husband and I often talk about how we feel as though we’ve reached a point in life where everything happens in contrast with each other. That there are always bad, heavy, and chaotic things happening right alongside good, joyful, and even peaceful moments inbetween. A sort of constant yin and yang state where being aware is all you can really be.

Allowing whatever is… to just… be.

And I think that attitude has really swayed my photography work and style dramatically these last few years. From how I approach sessions to what I even love photographing the most these days. It’s a constant flux and flow.

And so it was time to really showcase that with my own updated brand photos!! A reflection of that contrast of life. The yin and yang. The light and dark. The joy and sorrow. Because my philosophical heart never sleeps 😅 ((it’s literally why I planned wearing black against the gorgeous white studio if anyone else ever wondered 😅))

I suppose this is all to say that no matter your chaos, there’s always joy and beauty in it. Take it from a very experienced photographer of 18 years, former wedding photographer, a very seasoned mama, former preschool teacher, and full time homeschooler for 5 years now… that nothing can surprise me anymore.

I’ve quite literally seen it all lol.

And I promise you, no matter your own chaos of life, there’s its own beauty too. 😍🙏

What to bring to your session: you, your people, and a whole lotta happy 😍🥳🎉 loved getting to do another session in .and.vine new space!! Truly such a timeless studio they created. And bringin in one of my OG couples that I’ve gotten to watch go from engaged high school sweethearts to a gorgeous family of 4 over almost the whole last decade… puuuure Magic 😍

There are still so many sessions I have yet to share from before I went on my own maternity leave last year!! Hence me resurrecting this gorgeous in home maternity session with and her husband!!

Laura was seriously due just 2 weeks after me last year!!! So I was also VERY pregnant when I did this session for her 😂 and what’s sweet too is they kept the gender of their baby a secret until birth. But during this whole session I kept accidentally calling her bump “a baby girl” - maybe because I was due with a girl? Or mamas intuition was true because they did in fact have a baby girl!!! ( I hope you know I’m secretly really proud of that 🤣)

But genuinely just really happy I could squeeze this session in before I went on my own maternity leave and document this highly anticipated chapter for these 2. This baby girl is a lucky one to call up two parents 🫶🏼

invited me out to her house in Portsmouth a few weeks ago to document her and her family welcoming in their 3rd baby, little Archie 🥹

Now Kaitlyn is super special to me because she used to be one of my second shooters I’d hire for weddings!! And she was always amazing to work with.

But getting to see her in her element with her family was next level because she is the kind of mama that naturally radiates. But also her husband is the sweetest!! They’ve truly built such a beautiful little life together so when she asked me if I was interested in driving out there for this, I said yes before I could even think about it 😂🫶🏼

With already being an amazing photographer herself, I know my focus was going to be what us photographers want most - family photos with US IN PHOTOS!! 😂 so showing up and just hanging out with these guys for a couple of hours was so easy to do. And a nice switch up for my usual newborn session routine.

Thank you for inviting me out and trusting me with this huge milestone for you and your family!! You truly are beautiful people and your home is MAGICAL!!! I’m forever going to be drooling over your wooden wall 😍

and are one of my OG couples 🥹🫶🏼 I’ve watched them go from an engaged couple photographing them across Bourbon Country in Kentucky for their engagement session in 2019

To photographing their intimate wedding ceremony in 2020 on a skyscraper deck in Cincinnati with just their families to witness at the Hilton Netherlands Plaza

And that very same ceremony taking photos of and her Dad lightsaber dueling at Fountain Square

The following year, they celebrated their 1 year anniversary with a huge wedding reception at the same hotel and I was there to document all of that too.

Then a couple years later, Tati found herself pregnant with her first baby and had me photograph all his milestones with maternity, newborn, and his 1st birthday 🥹

And then Tati found out she was pregnant again so she signed up for another round of photos for baby #2 which I finally got to meet her last year 🥹

I don’t talk about it much but sometimes when I’m at sessions with my past wedding couples I seriously get emotional! Seeing how much they’ve changed, I’ve changed, and still choose me over and over again truly is an honor of any photographer!!

So and … thank you for choosing me over and over and over again 🥹🫶🏼✨ I truly love you all and even more - love seeing you guys grow with all the love you have to give. 🙏 I’ll be seeing you all again this summer for baby girls 1st birthday!!

I’ve learned over time that the most successful at home sessions are the ones where kids are free to be kids - but a few scheduled rotation of activities are best!

For this session with the Stremels, did an amazing job thinking about what activities her boys love to do most and shared those ideas with me and from there I kept the boys rotating between the activities every 15-20 mins so we kept their little minds engaged.

We started out with playing in the playroom with trains and coloring, then moved to the living room for family reading of their favorite books, then moved to the kitchen where had premade up some cookie dough and had it ready for rolling and cookie cutters 🍪, then we moved out to the backyard where a whole new rotation began with playing on the playset, exploring the garden, went foraging for leaves, and then playing with the dog!

We then wrapped up the session with some bonus photos cuddling on the front porch and somehow managed to get a posed photo with both boys and the dog together right before I left hah!!

So, while it’s important to remain organic and loose, having these activities pre thought out made this session so successful!!

When your kiddos are little, embracing these at home sessions can help make your session more like scheduled family time and less like a forced photoshoot where everyone has to stay clean and put on smiles ((Cuz we all know what kinda days and even hours/minutes toddlers can have 😅))

Lean into what makes your family unique and think of your session instead as just time together that I document :) I promise, when your kids are all grown, you’ll love these kinds of photos more than probably any other kind ✨
