We are so constantly bombarded with images of the "ideal" body that make it constant work to not look down on your own body as inferior regardless of body type. Which of course is the reason we're shown those images in the first place. So we'll keep trying the next fad, the diet, the next exercise. We'll keep trying to lose weight, but not too much weight, gain muscle, but not too much muscle, all in a bid to get your body to look like someone else's, even though the image you are being shown is a lie. You see models do the same poses and be shot from the same angles, for a reason, cause that isn't how they look most of the time. Don't get me wrong, I've never known a model who wasn't working very hard to maintain their shape, but they are doing an equal amount of work in front of the camera before you factor in hair, makeup and Photoshop. Even those models worry about what's too small, what's too big, what to flabby, etc it's inescapable. I love my body, and I still have a constant battle in my head when I look in the mirror about too big, too small, too fat, too hairy and so on and so on. Before I remind myself that I'm a beautiful human being just as I am, and I have a beautiful, sexy body that deserves love and pleasure. This constant back and forth is why I love seeing people celebrating the bodies they have. It's not about size, it's not about bravery, it's about unabashedly loving yourself in the face of a world that wants to believe that no matter how you look it's never good enough. That is an act of rebellion and one I never tire of seeing.
