I love photographing places that already feel like art because they give me so much to work with.

The architecture creates the structure and scale.
The staircase creates the perspective.
The dress creates the movement.
The couple creates the emotion.

My job is to see all of those things at once and bring them together in a single frame.

Anyone can take cool pictures of cool places.
My job is to recognize what the space is giving me and compose WITH it to make a good picture become extraordinary!

Rather than treating the architecture or a planner’s design as just a backdrop, I’ve trained my eye to use it to build the composition around the couple.

I think:
How can the architecture create depth?
Where does the eye naturally travel?
How can I use the scale of the space to make the couple feel even more significant within it?

The arches now become leading lines.
The symmetry becomes composition.
The repetition creates rhythm.
The light tells me where to place the couple.

When a planner and couple have poured so much thought into creating a beautiful environment, I want that work to do more than sit in the background. I want to incorporate it into the art itself, using every element I can to strengthen the photograph and elevate the final imagery.

One of my favorite things about being a traveling wedding photographer is that I get to walk into completely different places and find the beauty in each one.

Charleston has a way of making that very easy.

The architecture, the gardens, the soft light, the old homes, the color. Every corner gives you something to work with!

And after years of photographing weddings, I’ve learned that a beautiful setting is only the beginning. You still have to know how to use it!

How to find the best light.
How to build a portrait around the architecture.
How to photograph the details so they feel intentional.
How to move through a wedding day without making the couple or the planner carry the photographer.

Give us a beautiful place, a thoughtful team, and a couple with a great story, and we’re in our element.

A little reminder that the wedding day doesn’t start when the ceremony begins.

There are hours of anticipation before that moment. The dress comes out. Jewelry is fastened. The veil goes on. Everyone starts realizing that the day they’ve planned for so long is finally here.

I love being there for that part.

Not just to photograph the details, but to photograph the feeling of becoming a bride.
