I took this photo when I was invited to speak at the Dynamic Women’s Conference in Oklahoma, where I had the privilege of meeting members of the Chickasaw Nation.

What stayed with me was the opportunity to listen. To hear their stories, learn about their traditions, and spend time with people willing to share a part of their culture with me was a gift.

I am grateful for what I learned and especially thankful for the trust they gave me in allowing me to capture their photographs.

Sometimes the greatest privilege of being invited to speak is getting the opportunity to listen.

The youngest attendee at the Ohio District Kiwanis Convention was four weeks old, arrived in a stroller, and slept through most of it.

One of our attendees is fostering this kitten. Bottle fed, tiny enough to disappear into a sleeve, and completely at ease in a room full of strangers.

This young woman walked over just to see her, and next thing you know she was holding her, and neither of them wanted to let go.

That is the thing I keep noticing about Kiwanis people. The care does not stop at the edge of the service project. It shows up in who they pick up, who they carry, who they refuse to leave behind. A room full of leaders who spend their year serving kids, and here they were passing a kitten around like she was the guest of honor.

She was.

I had the privilege of photographing a Bar Mitzvah at one of Cincinnati's majestic downtown synagogues. Before the ceremony, I noticed this beautiful spiral staircase and immediately saw an opportunity.

I invited the young man to stand at the top while I photographed him from below. The result? One of my favorite images from the day.

Some of the best photographs aren't planned. They come from slowing down, noticing the architecture, the light, and the possibilities that others might walk right past.

Every celebration deserves images as unique as the person being celebrated.

I was photographing the networking event at the Cincy Selfie Museum during Black Tech Week when I noticed these two gentlemen. They weren't together, but from where I stood, their outfits were so similar they looked like they belonged in the store window.

I asked if they'd be mannequins.

They looked confused. They're not from the U.S., so I explained what I meant.

They didn't just say yes, they fully committed! 😄

One of my favorite things about photography is seeing possibilities others might miss and inviting people to be part of the fun. Sometimes the best images don't just happen. They begin with a simple ask.

I'm doing the 365 View Challenge, where I tackle a different photography challenge every day. Not sure how long I'll keep it up, but I'm giving it a shot! It should be easier than the challenge I gave myself to speak in all 50 states in one year... which I finished in 14 months. 😊

The fun part is that it's not always about taking a photo. It's about pushing myself to think differently.

This one wasn't a "capture" challenge. It was about turning a wedding day around.

The day had started off pretty rough, and I really wanted to see a genuine smile on the bride's face.

I made a custom water bottle label with gerbera daisies. Her wedding dress had been designed by 10-year-old prodigy Max and had arrived just days before the wedding. The fabric came from Japan, so I made her a little origami dress decorated with gerbera flowers. Inside was a joyful message just for her.

And since it was over 100 degrees that day, I figured a bottle of cold water was both practical and a fun surprise.

Sometimes being a photographer isn't just about taking pictures. It's about creating a moment that's worth photographing. ❤️

Kendra opted for an elopement wedding in Loveland, Ohio.

Elopement? Am I supposed to pack my bags too?

When I hear "elopement," I think of a couple disappearing for a few days and coming back saying, "You won't believe what just happened!" Maybe we need a new name, something like "Scenic Destination Wedding" or "Stress-Free Vows."

Except this one wasn't exactly stress free at first.

The couple had a rough start. Three officiants canceled at the last minute. One wouldn't marry a Christian couple, another couldn't legally officiate across state lines, and a third had a family emergency. Then they arrived to find their rental house wasn't exactly guest ready.

So I took on a few extra roles that day: photographer, planner, problem solver, and kindness giver.

I packed a picnic, helped shift the focus from everything that had gone wrong to everything that was going right, and together we turned the day around.

The result? A joyful celebration filled with laughter, love, and the kind of memories that matter most.

And can we talk about that dress? It was designed by Max, a 10 year old prodigy. Pretty impressive, right?

Sometimes the best wedding photos come from days that don't go according to plan but end up exactly as they should.
