The violin is a family heirloom that belonged to my great-aunt. I photographed it on vintage sheet music using a single beam of directional light to highlight the craftsmanship of the instrument and the connection between music, memory, and family history.

Cincinnati, Ohio

Went upstairs in our home back in March 2026, and entered the master bedroom and immediately seeing the late afternoon sun streaming through the horizontal blinds on a bedside lamp, casting the shadow. Returned downstairs for my Sony A1. Shooting in manual exposure at 1250 ISO with the 24-70mm 2,8 at 50mm. f5.6, 1/800 second. Probably shot 1-stop under, I am in my noir period, with just minor toning and exposure adjustments. Also set the camera to shot the same scene in B&W too.

Moraine Lake, Alberta, Canada

This was taken September 21, 2019 at Moraine Lake, near Banff, Canada. I has been photographing in manual mode less than a year, I was lucky enough that another photographer asked if I would be interested in going to Banff for several days. We booked a tour guide that knew locations and timing and when we arrived in the parking lot at 0-dark 100, my friend took off without me and all I could think about was climbing those stairs in pitch black without a bear getting me! As sunlight approached and the lake became visible, it was worth all the fretting! I have a metal print of this in my living room.
