Navajo Bridge in Arizona

Vacationing in Arizona in November of 2023, my husband and I were traveling from one side of the Grand Canyon to the other. We saw the Navajo Bridge and decided to stop and stretch our legs a bit. And I, of course, was looking for photo opportunities. As I stood on the walking bridge taking photos of the Colorado River below, I heard a huge commotion behind me and turned to see this California condor behind me. I was maybe 20 feet away from it. The condor was tagged with Z5, so you can look up its tag number to read all about this huge bird! This was the first time I ever confidently adjusted my camera and got ?the shot? without giving it a second thought!

My father was in the last few hours of his life. I wanted to say goodbye to him and asked my family members for some alone time with him. I held his hand as I talked with him even though he was not responsive. It was the last opportunity I would have to talk to him and hold his hand. We had not held hands since I was a toddler. Then, he was reassuring me. This time I was reassuring him that I would be ok.

The picture was taken in my wife's front flower bed

After returning home from a long weekend, I noticed these beauties (Border Lilies) as I was unpacking the car. I pulled my camera out and started shooting.
The time was around noon and the lilies were still in the shade.
I used a Nikon Z8
F-stop f/11
Exposure time 1/200 sec
Iso 1100
Focal length 105mm

Flat Rock, NC

This images is from a group of about 100. I was just learning how to use manual modes and was working on setting my own settings. I was ecstatic when I finally got what I thought was perfect. I had spent hours at the top of this mountain getting eaten alive by bugs and had the worst experience ever with poison ivy and chiggers from this trip. Worth it, every itchy moment, worth it.

Royal Botanical Gardens - Kew, London, England

This summer, we were finally able to go over to Europe for our vacation for the first time as a family (I am from the UK originally and hadn?t been back in 9 years). One of our first stops was one of my favorite places in London - Kew Gardens. In the sprawling noise of London, this Royal Gardens is a haven, and a plant lovers paradise. In the main glasshouse, I noticed this single orange Cape Marigold flower blossoming and loved the contrast against its green leaves.
