My favorite week of the year.

Every year on vacation we take the time to coordinate outfits and get all the cousins down to the beach for photos. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. Do we always nail it with every kid smiling and looking directly at the camera? Absolutely not, but that’s part of the fun. My only regret is that we only have these going back to 2023.

Stay tuned for more, because these aren’t even my favorites. After we get a traditional portrait or two I spend time just capturing the kids while they play and those are always my favorite.

These will be the days that I’ll be missing.

Looking to do something different this summer? In an effort to build this side of my portfolio, I’m offering $50 off any creative session booked between now and the end of the month. Summer sessions I’m dying to shoot: backyard pool hangout, splash park, family basketball/pickleball/skateboard or other sporting session, gardening/tending to animals, backyard kiddie pool/play set session… what am I missing? Playing around with light is one of my favorite things. And when I can do it all in the same session? Even better. These were all shot at the same location, on the same day, within 10 minutes of each other. These first is in direct light, the second is overcast/shade, and the third is backlight. If you’re lucky enough to have your mom around, invite her to the photo session. As someone who only has the photos left, I promise, it’s worth it. I would give up just about anything to have photos of my mom with my daughter. Few other investments are this priceless.

Raise your hand if you’re planting a garden this year 🙋‍♀️ I’d love to shoot another garden session this Summer. If this is how you spend your Summer afternoons/nights, let’s capture it. Because yes, looking back, family photos are a great reminder of how you looked- but above all else they should serve as a reminder for how it FELT, what the days looked like, and how you spent your time together.
