✨ Washington County Chamber of Commerce – June Business of the Month! ✨

Each month, our Chamber Ambassadors recognize a local business that exemplifies a featured industry or theme. For June, the focus was Hospitality & Tourism, highlighting businesses that help create memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike.

We are proud to recognize 1901 On Main as our June Business of the Month!

1901 on Main has become a destination in Downtown Chipley, offering a thoughtfully curated selection of wines and craft beers, unique tapas, and a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to relax, connect, and enjoy. Beyond its exceptional food and beverage offerings, 1901 on Main serves as a vibrant gathering place for the community, regularly hosting live music performances and special events.

Their upstairs venue space also provides a unique setting for celebrations, meetings, and private events, further contributing to the growth of hospitality and tourism in Washington County.

👏 Congratulations to the team at 1901 on Main on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for helping make our community a place people love to visit and experience!

Let’s Help This Wonderful Cultural Local Theatre! We are lucky to have such talented and passionate individuals.

As we begin an exciting new chapter for Spanish Trail Playhouse, we are preparing to renovate and update the historic Chipley High School campus—preserving its rich history while creating an even stronger home for the arts in our community.

To help support these efforts, we are planning a Legacy Fund Yard Sale and are asking for your help. We are seeking donations of clean, gently used items that can be sold during the event. Donations may include household goods, décor, furniture, tools, books, toys, kitchen items, collectibles, and other quality items in good condition.

We will begin accepting donations on Monday, July 13.

Every donated item will help raise funds for improvements to our campus and ensure that Spanish Trail Playhouse continues to serve our community for generations to come. This is a wonderful opportunity to clean out closets, garages, and storage spaces while making a meaningful contribution to the future of the Playhouse.

The Legacy Fund Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, August 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the historic Chipley High School campus.

We encourage community members to come shop, support the Playhouse, and help us continue preserving this treasured landmark.

If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Legacy Fund, please contact our business office at 850-638-9113 or visit us Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CT.

Financial contributions of any size will directly support the preservation and improvement of our historic campus.

All donations, both monetary and in-kind, are 100% tax-deductible as allowed by law. Spanish Trail Playhouse is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your generosity helps ensure that the arts continue to thrive in our community.

If you have items you would like to donate or would like to volunteer to help with sorting, setup, or the sale itself, please contact us. Additional details regarding donation drop-off locations and times will be shared soon.

Thank you for your continued support of Spanish Trail Playhouse and our mission. Together, we can preserve the legacy of this historic campus and build an exciting future for community theatre in Washington County.

Today, the Central Panhandle Association of Realtors Government Affairs Committee hosted a successful CRA Lunch & Learn, bringing together Realtors, community leaders, and redevelopment professionals for an informative discussion on Community Redevelopment Areas (CRAs) and their role in strengthening local communities.

A special thank you to Summer Thomas and the CPAR Government Affairs Committee for organizing this educational opportunity and inviting the City of Chipley CRA to participate.

Attendees heard a presentation from Shirley Parrado, CRA Director for the City of Chipley Community Redevelopment Agency, who shared information on how CRA programs support economic development, encourage private investment, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life within designated redevelopment districts. Susan Williams, CRA Adm. presented on the intricacies of both Residential and Commercial CRA Grants and Loans. The session also provided an opportunity for questions, discussion, and collaboration among participants.

We were honored to have City of Chipley leadership in attendance, including Mayor Tracy Andrews, City Administrator Patti Tanner, and CRA Administrator Susan Williams, whose support and commitment to community revitalization continue to make a positive impact throughout the community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation. Through partnerships, education, and collaboration, we can continue building stronger communities and creating opportunities for growth throughout the Central Panhandle region.

The ribbon-cutting event at Fla Choppas Barbershop today attracted a remarkable crowd. The Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors, officials, ambassadors, the Chamber Executive Director, friends, faith-based pastors, and family all came together to show their support for the Franklin family.
Having joined the chamber and participated in their gala, they have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the chamber's community efforts. The impact of Fla Choppas barbershop on the community is undeniable and goes beyond expression.
We would like to thank everyone who came and supported this small business that is making a positive impact on the Washington County community.

✨ Legacy Businesses Rooted in Community ✨

For more than 120 years, Florida Land Title & Trust Company has proudly served Northwest Florida with trusted title insurance and real estate closing services. With only three owners throughout its long history and multiple generations of the Kunde family involved in the business, their story is one of integrity, experience, and deep community commitment.

Today, Ivan “Van” Kunde and Richard Kunde continue that legacy, bringing decades of knowledge in title insurance, banking, mortgage lending, real estate, and closings to the families, Realtors, lenders, and professionals they serve. Their dedication to accuracy, customer service, and guiding clients through every step of the closing process has made Florida Land Title a trusted name in Washington County and beyond.

As we celebrate Small Business Month, we are proud to recognize Florida Land Title and Trust Company as a true legacy business rooted in community.

Working towards Empowering Our Community!
On Friday, May 29th, I had the distinct privilege of representing the Washington County Chamber of Commerce at the United Way of Northwest Florida Annual Report Breakfast, held at FSU Panama City, where meaningful connections were forged and community spirit soared.
This exceptional event provided a valuable platform to engage with Gina Littleton, President/CEO of United Way, Brittany Tucker, Senior Director of Strategic Growth, and Branton Peacock, ReadingPals Director, and many others, to explore innovative avenues for regional collaboration and community investment.
Earlier this month, I was honored to be part of the United Way Grants Committee, playing a pivotal role in reviewing and allocating critical agency funding. I was thrilled to join forces with WCCOC board members Mayor Tracey Andrews and Cindy Johnson Brown, who served on the Grants Committee and Local Allocation endeavor. For the upcoming cycle, a significant $15,136.40 will be distributed among various agencies, directly touching the lives of Washington County residents. Advancing Early Literacy: ReadingPals Grant.

We at the Chamber look forward to working in close partnership with Director Branton Peacock, WYP Chair, and Brittany Tucker! The Chamber supports initiatives alongside the United Way, who will be the sponsor of the Third Thursday in August. The United Way aims to secure a $50,000 "ReadingPals" grant, dedicated to empowering Washington County Public Schools, to target Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) and potentially Kindergarten students.
Preliminary rollout is slated for this summer, beginning with the June 18th Third Thursday Washington County Chamber of Commerce WYP Inaugural meeting, with full implementation set for August. The Chamber remains steadfast in its commitment to championing education and resource alignment, fostering a brighter future for Washington County's long-term economic and community growth.
