These are the moments I’m always chasing as a family photographer. Not the perfectly posed ones but the real, squishy cheeked, blink and you’ll miss it kind of moments.

I take these photos for you to remember the way your kids fit in your arms right now because one day they won’t fit the same. For the way their nose scrunches when they laugh, a sight and sound that you want to remember forever. For the way they reach for you like you are their whole world because right now, you are.

But I’m also thinking about them years from now.

I’m thinking about the day they sit with these photos in their hands and see their childhood for themselves. How much Dad loved them, how Mom kissed every boo boo and wrapped them in pure unconditional love, how safe and seen and completely adored they were in this season of life. It isn’t just about memories for you, it’s also about proof for them.

I’m just over here trying to bottle up a feeling that doesn’t stay still. I’ve learned that being a parent is such a bittersweet thing. We love our babies with every ounce of who we are and love every age and stage we get to. But with new stages comes the end of stages and it’s so hard and heartbreaking to say goodbye to those moments that seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye. My youngest turns 2 on Friday and I’m feeling extra sentimental and emotional this week and had to share what was on my heart.

Planning a Southern California Engagement Session? Let’s talk about how to make it fun, relaxed and totally you. After all these photos are the story of you and your partner so they should feel like you!

-Choose a meaningful location…Think beach sunsets, desert vibes, green mountain views or the spot where your story began. This beach was a special spot the bride had gone to for many years so it made for a meaningful place for their Laguna Beach engagement session.

-What should we wear? I know there are a million styles and a million and one options but choose something that best reflects you, your style and the vibe you want your photos to portray. Dress comfortably and think of more coordinating with your partner instead of being super match-y match-y., Flowy, breathable, and movement-friendly are great things to think about in your outfit selections.

-This is special time with your partner away from scrolling on social media, busy calendars, work, etc. Make it a date, not a photoshoot…Think outside the box! Grab coffee, pop some champagne, lets play your favorite music… let the moments unfold naturally and have fun. We can get some really great photos by incorporating some fun things that you and your partner enjoy.

-Trust your photographer! Hi, that’s me! 🙋🏼‍♀️You don’t need to know how to pose. I hear it all the time..”we’re awkward and don’t know what to do!” Guess what? I’m the same way when I get in front of the camera. It’s normal and you are not alone! But don’t worry, I got you! Just focus on each other, enjoy your time with one another and I’ll guide the rest.

-Golden hour magic and calming blue hour — That dreamy SoCal glow hits different right before sunset. That’s when golden hour is at its peak. Once the sun sets below the horizon line and we lose that “golden glow”, it becomes blue hour which is also another beautiful time and gives a cooler and slightly more moody look.

I’m currently booking engagement sessions and would love to hear more about your plans! You can contact me by clicking the link my bio. 💛

Big Bear is somewhere that has always been special to me. It’s a place that I’ve gone since I was young..whether for camping, off-roading with the Jeeps or a place I’ve spent relaxing weekends at to refresh and refuel. Once i’m up there with the smell of the trees and the breathtaking views, I feel like i’m able to breathe deeper and anything that has been weighing on me disappears. It’s one of my happy places and somewhere I need to get back to and share with my kids. It’s been awhile and I need a good nature sesh!

I have done quite a few Big Bear engagements sessions, like this one, as well as family sessions and wedding portraits. I have yet to do a Big Bear Elopement but would love to! If anyone knows someone who’s eloping in Big Bear or wants a session in the mountains, I’m your girl! 🐻

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time”, this is your sign it’s already here.

I know there’s such a small window between the busy seasons. It seems like we always have stuff going on and our calendars are always jam packed. But these seasons we are in with our kids don’t slow down and they don’t wait. We blink and they are another year older and at a new stage in their life.

Family photos aren’t just for when your babies are little, they are for every chapter. I’m so glad we were able to squeeze in some family photos for this adorable bunch who is often busy traveling with baseball and softball. They were staying in Palos Verdes so we took advantage of the beautiful scenery and had such a fun time together. I even got a text after the session saying that their cheeks hurt from laughing so much.

If you’re dreaming of your own family session, I would love to hear about your family and how I can help capture this season you’re in with your babies no matter if they’re 2 or 22.

Website link is in my bio where you can fill out the contact form. Excited to hear from you! 💛

Hot take: your getting ready space on the day of your wedding or elopement might be just as important as your venue…

This is where the magic starts and the tone is set for the day. The music is playing, hair and makeup is getting done, final touches are coming together, you’re hanging out with your besties or partner and champagne is popping. Or in the case of this wedding, 5 hour energy shots 😂

The things that make for the best getting ready spaces are good natural light, enough space for everyone and a vibe and style that matches your wedding aesthetic.

Derek & Mallory had a very colorful wedding at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum and I loved this Airbnb they found close to their venue in the heart of Santa Barbara. It had beautiful Spanish influence with lots of colors and some fun quirks that fit their wedding day perfectly.

Bride and Groom photos on the docks was the best way to soak in the beautiful sunlight and gorgeous views from Catherine & Shawnon’s yacht club reception. And getting cheers from passengers of boats passing by was such a fun experience and added to an already perfect day! I love the way these two have fun together and are just genuinely so happy to be with one another. They made my job feel effortless and were a dream to photograph. ✨

Solo maternity session or partner included?

Honestly… I love both 🤍
There’s something powerful about documenting motherhood and that calm before baby arrives. But having your partner step into a few photos makes the story even more meaningful because you’re doing this together. Often times these are the last few weeks before your world is changed and it’s these sweet moments between partners that I love to capture.

Thank you to all the birds that have flown through my shots and have really added to that Southern California beach vibe! If you can’t tell I get super excited when that happens! 🤣

Since having my babies, maternity sessions are something I am obsessed with photographing! They are so much fun and not only is it a celebration of a sweet little baby on the way but it’s really a celebration of becoming a Mother. Motherhood changes us and yes, it’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it. The transformation that happens to us not only physically but emotionally, spiritually, mentally is such a magical thing and I’m honored to be a part of photographing that precious time for so many beautiful parents-to-be.

Last year I photographed a lot of couples Babymooning in Orange County. I don’t know if babymooning in OC is a new trend but I am all here for it! Bring me all the cute couples and beautiful baby bumps!

If you are expecting and have a baby on the way, I would love to photograph your maternity session! Best time for maternity sessions are around the 30-35 week mark. My dates for spring/summer are starting to get booked up so reach out soon and we can start planning!
