These photos are from my trip to Odell lake in 2024. Still some of my favorites!

Something I never thought would happen actually happened!

I had the publisher of a magazine approach me! She saw one of my photos and liked it so much she asked me to send in a series of mine for publication. 😱

Naturally they wanted models in the photos, and unfortunately I'm not a portrait photographer. However she said she'd keep me on her radar and to contact her if that changes.

Like whattttt!!!??? That's insane. I'm so honored to have been approached in this manner. Maybe I'll have to pick up on some portrait photography. πŸ€”

The Tall Flatsedge (Cyperus eragrostis)

Ever spotted these unique, firework-like green clusters growing along stream banks or damp ditches? Often called umbrella sedge, this resilient wetland plant is a quiet powerhouse for local ecosystems!

Its dense and tightly bound root systems aid in preventing shorelines from washing away.

It also works as a filtration system helping waterways stay cleaner by absorbing all the excess nutrients.

Water fowl seek nutrition from its seeds while its tufts provide shelter for smaller marshland critters.

There you have it. What looks like just an ordinary w**d down by the river actually plays a huge role in our ecosystem. Next time you spot a random week, do.some research. You never know what you can learn.

Today was our girls doctor appointment.

Unfortunately, likely her lump is cancerous. However, we did x-rays and nothing is showing internally and it's not attached to anything and should be easy to remove.

Next Thursday Ms. Rizzo will be undergoing surgery to remove the tumor.

Please keep her in your little rat prayers that surgery goes well. πŸ™πŸ» πŸ’œ
