J. Brown Photography My artistic vision is focused on you; beautiful, authentic, and in the moment. YOU CAN REHEARSE EVERYTHING ELSE,
BUT THE BEST MOMENTS ARE UNEXPECTED.

Dad letting out the tears he swore he wouldn't, the flower girl gone rogue,
Grandma showing three generations how to two-step,
And your best friend making a bouquet catch worthy of Sportscenter...

THESE ARE THE MOMENTS THAT MAKE A WEDDING. I SIMPLY CAPTURE THEM,
AND LET YOUR PHOTOS TELL THE STORY. Whether your wedding is traditional or quirky, epic or intimate, local or halfway across the world,

my role is to be the calm within the storm and guarantee that your photos will serve as a gateway to that moment in time. So you can relive your day, share your story, and keep a piece of the experience. Because your wedding is just one day, but your stories run deeper than that. Connections with friends that go back for decades, family members you've grown up with, and the love of your life who you'll build tomorrow's memories alongside. That's what your wedding is. Organic, historic, and intrinsically yours. And your photography should reflect that. Together with your personality, vision and creativity, I'll ensure that your wedding is captured, printed, and beautifully expressed for generations to come. Because all great love stories deserve to be told.

Not a bad way to spend a couple days as a photographer…

Chrissy & Suman took me on a whirlwind tour of some of the most beautiful spots in San Francisco for their engagement session, and somehow every stop was even better than the last.

We started at the Palace of the Fine Arts, made our way to Fort Point under the Golden Gate Bridge, wandered through Muir Woods, stopped at the Muir Beach Overlook, and wrapped things up at Hawk Hill just before sunset. One incredible backdrop after another.

But as stunning as the scenery was, these two made the session. They were fun, laidback, and fully up for the adventure — which made photographing them feel effortless. They’re simply enjoyable people to be around.

Now I’m counting down the days until their wedding at the Field Museum this fall in Chicago. It’s going to be a good one!

Big thanks to Kristy / for connecting me with these two fantastic humans.

There are some wedding venues that never stop inspiring me, and the Chicago Cultural Center is at the top of that list.

Benita & Ray’s wedding day had everything I love as a documentary wedding photographer — emotional family moments, an incredible couple, beautiful light, and a reception full of energy.

The day started at Benita’s parents’ home, where there was so much anticipation leading up to everyone seeing her in her dress for the first time. Some of the sweetest moments of the day happened right there.

From there, we headed to Preston Bradley Hall for a private first look and vows beneath the Tiffany Dome. Between the architecture, the light, and Benita & Ray being so natural together, it led to some of my favorite portraits I’ve ever created at the Cultural Center.

After a beautiful ceremony, the space transformed for a reception that felt elegant, joyful, and very Chicago. Emotional toasts, packed dance floor, and nonstop moments worth remembering.

Exactly the kind of day I love capturing as a Chicago wedding photographer and wedding photojournalist. Congrats to Benita & Ray!

Spring weddings in Chicago can be a gamble… but Emily & Connor absolutely hit the jackpot.

March gave us one of those rare perfect days — warm light, clear skies, and the kind of easy energy that makes photographing a wedding feel effortless.

We started the day bouncing between the Wrigley Building and the Honeycomb in Lincoln Park, soaking up some incredible light before heading to Café Brauer — one of those classic Chicago venues that never goes out of style.

Emily & Connor (and their whole crew) kept the vibe exactly how I love it: relaxed, joyful, and fully present with their people. The result? A day full of authentic moments, big laughs, and a dance floor that stayed packed all night.

And always a pleasure collaborating with Jenny () again — weddings just run better when great vendors are behind the scenes making the magic happen.

While I’m at it… happy anniversary, Emily & Connor! 🥂

Winter weddings hit different — and this one still makes me smile every time I scroll back. While I’m at it… happy anniversary!

Missy & Danny came in hot with one simple goal: real moments with their favorite people. No stiff posing, no forced timelines — just joy, chaos, and a dance floor that absolutely did not quit.

The wedding party? Unhinged (in the best way). The energy? Off the charts.
The vibes? Let’s just say the floor at Ravenswood Event Center earned its paycheck that night.

Also, fun full-circle moment: this was the very first time I worked with Jenny from who is now a dear friend and one of my favorite humans to collaborate with. Proof that great weddings start with great people.

If your dream wedding looks more like a party than a performance, then let’s talk.

Honored to be recognized again by the WPJA ()!

Two dance floors.
Two very different moments.
Both gone in seconds if you’re not ready.

A quiet embrace between a mother and son, surrounded by everyone they love.
And pure chaos as the father-of-the-bride gets lifted into the air during the hora.

These are the moments I’m always watching for — the ones that happen fast, feel real, and can’t be staged.

Cassie & Sydney’s wedding at was intimate, heartfelt, and full of quiet magic. ✨

They exchanged vows surrounded by their closest loved ones — a day that felt both deeply personal and beautifully timeless. Every glance, every tear, every laugh told the story of two people who found home in each other.

It was an honor to capture such genuine emotion and connection. Huge thanks to Misse from and the wonderful team at The Drake for making the day so seamless and full of love!

I’m honored to share that several of my photographs were recently recognized by the Wedding Photojournalist Association () in their Spotlight Awards!

These images highlight what I love most about wedding photography: capturing peak, unscripted moments, real emotion, and the unique beauty that is the city of Chicago. It’s such a privilege to tell stories this way — preserving not just how a wedding day looks, but how it truly feels.

Grateful to my couples for trusting me to document their day with honesty, artistry, and heart.
