Black Fashion Week is an Organization founded by Mark Anthony; it’s not just an event nor is it just a show; it is a movement organized for the sole purpose of bringing diversity to the runway. Mark Anthony decided to make it his business to promote diversity after witnessing first hand two disturbing facts about the fashion industry

. While covering a fashion event Mark Anthony noticed there were only two black models on the runway, if that were not bad enough he noticed that when the black models came down the runway certain white photographers put their cameras down and did not take pics of the black models. It was at this point that Mark Anthony swore to himself to make sure that he got pics/video of the black models at every fashion show or fashion event he covered. Black Fashion Week uses images and video from fashion events as a tool to highlight and provide exposure for the black models in those events. Black Fashion Week partnered with Models Inc Magazine in Jan 2013; Models Inc Magazine is a Black owned and operated magazine whose objective is to promote diversity on the runway and in the fashion industry. Models Inc Magazine has been a valuable tool to Black Fashion Week in that it publishes images of models provided by Black Fashion Week in its monthly issues. The mission, objective and goal of Black Fashion Week are simple, we want to level the playing field in the fashion industry and bring diversity to the runway. We will accomplish this by using technology, social media, events, shows, the web and any other means necessary to bring diversity on the runway for models of color. We will only partner with like minded sponsors, designers, models, makeup artist, hairstylist, etc that are dedicated to bringing diversity to the runway and the fashion industry.
