I woke up early last Tuesday morning to catch the lunar eclipse, but the blood moon stayed masked behind dark clouds. So I waited with the BaHa’i temple until the sky turned from indigo to baby blue at the Wilmette Harbor. The moon didn’t reveal herself until much later that evening. Hope to catch the next full lunar eclipse 2028!

It was an absolute honor to photograph Adoption Day at the Daley Center last week. I’m so grateful to Greenlight Family services for inviting me to volunteer in this welcoming space to bear witness to the pure joy and excitement when children, parents, family members, child advocates, social workers and friends convened to make their adoptions official and celebrate their new forever families. Having myself been adopted when I was four years old, seeing these children and families stand in front of a judge while they shared their stories of what brought them to this moment moved me to tears. May these children be surrounded by love, care, safety and guidance as they settle in to their forever homes. Congratulations families and may this be the first of many Thanksgivings for years to come. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It has been a difficult few days. Fortunately, I came upon these sunflowers that stretched as far as the eye could see, standing tall and proud as the sun was bidding the day adieu. It cheered me right up.
