February 18-21, 2026 - Mini throwback to some serious Tiger pride on display at SCIACS, the 4 day swim and dive meet for Division III schools in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Occidental College swimmers had a strong showing, setting PR's and placing top 16 in many events, with sophomore Connor Grant crushing the 100 free and repeating as SCIAC champion.

Feb. 27, 2026, Chicago - Excitement overload in Ukrainian Village as Chicago Bulls forward Matas Buzelis makes an appearance at St. Helen's School for their 'Bulls Takeover Day'. Buzelis, a Chicago native, fielded student questions and played one on one with several of the middle school basketball team members in their home gym.
Up until Friday, St Helen's most famous basketball connection was Mike Krzyzewski, who attended the school in the 1950's. The school's gym is named for him.

01.24.2026 - Finding clean backgrounds at an ultimate frisbee tournament is quite a photography challenge, but also a labor of love when your son is a team captain; managed to find a few while covering the club team, Entropy, vs. Colorado Mesa and ASU at the New Year's Fest in Phoenix, AZ.
Mines went 4-2 for the weekend and heads to Portland, OR next for the D3 Grand Prix.

Jan 10-11, 2026 - Selects from a busy weekend at De Mandel Aquatics Center in Los Angeles where the Occidental College Swim and Dive team hosted back to back meets against SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Colorado College. Classes won't start for another week but the Tigers have been back on campus for winter training since December 28th.

October 2025. Spent a few October mornings on a different kind of action shoot, covering all-female construction crews participating in Habit for Humanity Chicago's annual Women Build event. The teams, some with construction experience but many with none, worked on three homes in the Austin neighborhood (under the guidance of professionals) and raised over $700,000 for Habitat while also raising awareness about the challenges women-led households face on the path to homeownership.

10.16.2025 In his final regular season game, Knox, IN Senior Myles McLaughlin led the Redskins to a lopsided 64-0 win over Bowman Academy, rushing for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns. McLaughlin now has 3,143 rushing yards for the season and leads the nation in average rushing yards per game.

April 27, 2025 - Tulsa, OK
A rain out on Day 1 meant nothing but mud on Day 2 for and all the other teams vying for a bid to Nationals at USA Ultimate D3 South Central Regionals. After two decisive wins on Saturday, Mines lost 2 heartbreakers in the messy conditions on Sunday, ending their season a few weeks earlier than they had hoped.

Feb. 14, 2025. Valentine's Day shout out to a team I have absolutely loved covering for the last four years, Boys Varsity Swim 🧡💙. If hasn't always been easy shooting in a basement pool with a small deck, but watching the Class of '25 grow and progress and PR over and over has been a ton of fun. Some selects of the team from various home meets this season, as the team preps for their Sectional meet on Feb 22.

While Latin trailed 0-1 against rival Parker throughout most of their match, Romans' Captain Casey Mitchell tied up their Homecoming game with less than a minute left in regulation, while teammate Teagan Moroney scored the golden goal in overtime to win it 2-1.
