I will always think of the great owl from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, when I see these guys. They are in fact not related to owls but much more closely related to nightjars.

I always love seeing these guys at the Brookfield and Lincoln Park zoos. At the Brookfield zoo, they live in an aviary thats open to the public and always seem to be 30 ft above looking down from the ceiling.
