Update on my niece Cayde

We as a family have made some decisions about longer term care and goals for Cayde Bug. Next week (probably on the 16th) Caydence will be going in for surgery to have 3 different procedures done.

The first one is that Caydence will be getting a tracheostomy. For those that do not know what this is, this is where an incision is made directly into her windpipe for the breathing tube to be inserted. This is being done as Caydence at this point is going to need long term ventilation as her lungs are far too damaged to work on their own. This will also allow us to take her off the sedation medication and will allow her to eventually be able to eat, drink, communicate and get up and move around. The goal for this is to give her a better quality of life and work in rehabbing her body more.

The second procedure that will be done that day is she will be getting another GJ tube. This is a feeding tube that is permanently in her stomach that will allow us to give her additional nutrition as needed. This is something that she has had before in the past as well

The third procedure that will be done that day is biopsy of her kidneys. This will give us more answers on if there is severe permanent damage that was done to her kidneys or if they are just still more stunned and asleep from all the Meds and acute damage done. This will also help us with any long term goals and plans which would include if we will be able to take her to Texas for another lung transplant or not as well.

Additionally one other day next week she will also go in for a very minor surgery that will need to be done before all of this to put in a long term dialysis catheter as well. This has to be done before the trach as the one she has now is in her neck and it makes it harder for that surgery to take place.

Sorry for another long and lengthy update. Cayde overall is still holding her own in all of this. She is waking up more but is much more emotional than we have seen her as I am sure all of this is hard for her to wrap her head around as it is hard for all the rest of us in her life. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers especially with surgery coming up soon as she is going to need them.

I have rebranded my photography business and called it pixie dust Photography in honor of my niece caydence pixie dust has been her superpower throughout her lifetime and has always made her feel safe when it comes to her pokies and it makes her feel like she can make it through anything. so I thought that the best name that I can name my photography business is it in honor of my niece Caydence Louise Brannaman...... Our little pixie dust princess.

Rebranding to be able to offer many more options for my clients. I now offer not only family sessions, kid sessions, weddings, but also now pet photography and birth story sessions. Renamed my business to honor my niece caydence who is my hero and pixie dust has always been her lucky charm. So I want to honor her and keep the spirit of her fight going. I will also be donating 10% of all sale to her medical bills and care.
