How is graduation this week?? And how is this sweet little 8 year old (I swear) graduating??

I hope ALL the graduating seniors this week have a fabulous last week of school!! You're so close, and I can't wait to see where life takes you next!

Grabbed some supermarket flowers to test out a new film camera. My go-to-models are in school until June 2nd, so some overpriced tulips had to make do.

Scroll for the reason I rarely buy flowers for indoors. I swear he can just sense their presence, and will wake up from the deepest sleep, just to shred them.

Stayed tuned for the results! These are Nikon z5ii with an Olympus 50mm 1.8. Edited with Portra 400.

Fall in Wyoming. 🥰🥰🥰

Fall is short here, only a couple weeks long at most. The saving grace? An elevation change from 9000’ to 6000’ within a 45 minute drive. So I spend my falls chasing the color down the mountainside. Definitely not the worst way to spend a month (although at almost $5/gallon for gas, I might change my tune this year!).

For this senior photo session, we managed to hit the start of fall last September, which meant perfectly warm weather and a wild rainbow of greens, yellows, and oranges. Thanks to the short (and very unpredictable) season, I don’t usually offer many fall senior sessions, but I was happy to make an exception for this one!

I only have a couple spots left for the Class of 2027! Head to lizputnam.com for more info, and to book your session. And a huge congrats to the class of 2026!! You’re almost there!

Avery | Class of 2026

I went a bit overboard with the images for this one, but ugggh! We met at a studio here in Cheyenne over the winter for this session, on what might have been the coldest day of the year. Avery was up for adding a roll of film in for her session, and we literally took photos until it was pitch black out!

We mixed flash with natural light, film with digital, and my artsy little soul cannot be happier.

I would LOVE to do another senior studio session this year, and would have availability that isn't shown on my calendar, since we could meet during the day. So if I happen to be sold out, reach out and ask about my studio senior sessions! More info at this link: https://lizputnam.com/cheyenne-senior-photographer/

My work is not the same when I’m on the open prairie. It has its own character, full of haze and direct sun, but the work that everyone loves has one thing in common - trees.

Sunlight filtered through leaves, families hidden in a tiny forest of dappled light.

But trees are SO hard to come by here. It’s dry, it’s windy, and the trees we do have are getting old. I have time finding new locations that aren’t right at sunset or early in the morning, because shade is just so hard to come by!

I’ve been photographing tree plantings for since May 2019, and I can’t think of an organization I’m happier to support. The just planted their 2000th(!!!) tree in Cheyenne, in the yard of a longtime teacher, dedicated to another longtime Cheyenne teacher.

For Cheyenne residents: $50 gets you a tree, planted by volunteers near the sidewalk in the city right of way. All you have to do is water it! I’ve spent $200-300/tree for trees of this size, and have very much had to plant them myself. ;)

Head to their website to learn more! The next planting will be in September, and I can’t wait to see more trees in those lonely expanses of lawn and full sun.

Nate | Class of 2026

When you play basketball at Cheyenne East, but your mom works at the Wyoming State Capitol, this is the result! I *loved* getting to work with lights in the East gym (even if it was approximately 1000 degrees in August and we all almost sweated to death).

I can't stress it enough, but feel free to suggest out of the box ideas for your senior session! I can't always guarantee it will work out, but man, when it does? Freaking gorgeous.

The light at this session! We didn't have a ton of sunshine until right at sunset, but that just meant soft shadows and perfect colors. I had a fantastic time in the Colorado foothills with this gorgeous senior girl and her mom!

(This was the night of the tornado warning and huge hail in downtown Cheyenne last summer. I hate to say it, but Colorado really does have better weather!)

When I die, summer nights in the driveway are going to be what runs through my head. Sidewalk chalk, scooters, roly poly pill bugs, sunflowers, and sunshine. I have hundreds, if not thousands, of photos of our front yard.

It’s my happy place, but thanks to Life and Work, it hasn’t been happening much the last few years. So this brief Saturday night hang was that much sweeter. 🖤

(Thanks to all my May families who have been so chill about rescheduling! We’re swinging from 85 degrees to 20 degrees, and while I’m okay with the wet weather, it would be nice if they weren’t all days I had family photos scheduled. ;) But we’ll get there!)

Our house is SO dusty. Little fingerprint trails on coffee tables, and (when the spruce trees do their thing) gritty bits on yellow pollen on the kitchen counters.

But I won’t trade it for open windows.

I want nothing more than to be outside. Give me snow, give me rain, give me sunshine. I’ll take it all.

(Maybe slightly less wind, but I can work with it)

It’s been a wild few months of weather, and I’m not sure how summer is going to go. I’m keeping room in my schedule for several backup nights, which does mean a lot less availability. I’m sure we’ll still hit some snags, but we’ll make it work. We always do. 🖤

I only have a couple spots left for family photo sessions this year, but I’m hoping to add a couple fun events for families this year. 🤞 stay tuned!

Kaine | Class of 2026

I love nothing more than when senior boys want to bring their cars to their session. It gives them something to lean on (very key), something for us to talk about that isn't school (important), and gives the senior in question some motivation to clean their car (maybe!).

For more info on my senior sessions in Cheyenne, head to https://lizputnam.com/cheyenne-senior-photographer/! As of the time of writing this, I only have one spot left, so don't wait!
