I know this post is a little removed from my normal content, but please indulge me for a moment as I share a story about why these beautiful birds mean so much to me.
My mother absolutely loved hummingbirds. While she was in the hospital, Ned LeDoux released the song “The Hawk.” If you’ve never heard it, I encourage you to give it a listen.
One day, I asked my mom, “If you could come back to this world as any animal, what would you choose?” Without even hesitating, she said, “A hummingbird.”
After she passed away, we returned home to Wyoming. As we stepped out of the truck and walked toward the house, we were suddenly surrounded by what felt like hundreds of hummingbirds. They were everywhere.
Our whole family stopped in our tracks, overwhelmed with emotion. We cried together, knowing in our hearts it was the Good Lord’s way of letting us know she was okay and in His hands.
That moment is something I’ll never forget, and it’s why hummingbirds will always hold such a special place in my heart.
