A little belated Fatherās Day moment for newly ordained Fr. Dan Finucane, SJ, whose ordination I was blessed to capture two weeks ago in St. Louis.
There are so many moments in an Ordination Mass that touch your heart, and Fr. Danās was no exception. From the flood of his brother priests that entered with him, prayed over him, and congratulated him, to the moving music sung by his fellow Jesuits in formation, his first consecration, and of course his prostration during the Litany of Saints, the Holy Spirit was so clearly present in this day and in Fr. Danās vocation and ministry.
As he said in his homily during his first Mass the following day, stepping into your vocation can feel like asking yourself, āHavenāt I always wanted this? Hasnāt my heart always ached for this?ā Itās such a good reminder for all of us: As we step into our baptismal priesthoods and into Godās callings on our lives, letās never forget to listen to our hearts and especially to His heart for us ā¤ļøāš„
