US - Virginia - Crozet ... I swear that my personal FB page, Jim Dwyer, has been hacked into because I can't even post on it any longer. In any case, this will do until I fix the problem. This landscape was created at least three and maybe four weeks ago. I'd never seen a cherry tree farm in person and, even though I think it was the owner who told me that his trees had reached their peak blossom two weeks earlier, I absolutely wasn't disappointed. In fact I asked him when peak would be, thinking that it was still ahead of us. In any case, if ever you visit, try to stay in Charlottesville (adjacent to the east of Crozet). C-ville, as locals call it, is well worth seeing even if the only thing you see is the University of Virginia. What a classic campus! Well, the real reason I'm posting this is because it'll be my last post before heading out to Washington to photograph what I believe is the largest tulip farm in the US. I'm going to make a one-day side trip to the North Cascades, and then head south through the Gifford Pinchot Natl. Forest on my way down to the Columbia River Gorge Natl. Park for five days. Then I'm going to work my way up the coast for five days at Olympic National Park. If I don't get eaten by a bear, I'll have lots and lots to post when I return!

US - PA - Ricketts Glen State Park --There are some two dozen waterfalls in Ricketts Glen. I'm not sure if this is even listed as one of them, or just a really pretty cascade. But if you have the legs and lungs to go hiking up and down even one of the two paths the falls are located on, you'll be richly rewarded. Especially now that tspring is here and the waters are flowing! Enjoy your day -- and never, never be a couch potato!

US - New York - Watkins Glen State Park ... This was from the first week in October last year. Although I think October is the most colorful time to be in the park -- there's always the risk that it'll have to be closed down for the winter due to ice forming on steps -- and there are lots of them! Be prudent and call before visiting.

US - WV - Blackwater Falls SP - Lindy Point - "The Great Monolith" (my title; don't believe there's any official name for this stone) ... You can see why, after Black River Falls itself, this is the most visited place in the park. If you're there at sunrise, as when this was captured (even in early October, when I visited) you're likely to have this all to yourself or share with with no more than a few others. The path, unfortunately, is not handicapped accessible (too many rocks and tree stumps sticking out of the ground). But if you can navigate those, my guess is that the platform is but a hundred yards from the three-car parking lot (after that, cars park alongside of the road without any problem). Enjoy!

US - West Virginia - Blackwater Falls State Park - Lindy Point ... If I sold my landscapes, I'm not sure this would be a bestseller. Lovely, but ... My guess it's more of a landscape that touches my heart as an individual, not only seeing it in person, and hearing the sounds but inhaling the fresh scent of the air. For all of the moaning and groaning I do to wake up at such an ungodly hour to see a sunrise, it's something extraordinarily special to be there -- as though you're the first human at the dawn of civilization to appreciate the first sunrise. For the many who have experienced a sunrise, you know what I'm talking about, for others, well, you should give it a try!
