This is something I wish more people thought about before booking a photographer…

**Are they actually the right photographer for YOUR family?**

Not just, “How much do they charge?”

Because two photographers can photograph the exact same family and create completely different images.

Before you book, look at their full galleries. Make sure you love their style. Think about how you want your session to feel. And if you have kids, make sure they know how to work with kids when things don't go perfectly. 😂

But also think about the person behind the camera.

Do you feel comfortable with them?
Do you trust them?
Do they make the process feel easy?

Because you're not just hiring someone to take pictures.

You're trusting them to capture **this little season of your family's life.** And that's a pretty big deal. 🤍

I wrote a full blog post about how to choose the right family photographer. Save this for the next time you're looking, or send it to a friend who is!

Maybe you feel like you're already behind on the whole “family photo” thing.

You have thousands of pictures on your phone… but hardly any printed. You’re always the one taking the photos, so you're barely in them. And somehow, another year has gone by. 🤍

But here's the thing:

You haven't missed your chance to start building your family's legacy.

You don't need years of professional photos. You don't need a perfectly styled home or perfectly behaved kids.

You just need to start with where your family is right now.

Because these little things you're living every day, the way your kids run into your arms, their tiny hands, their silly personalities, the way they still fit perfectly next to you, won't always be this way.

And please, get in the photos.

Your kids don't need a perfect version of you. They need you.

The goal isn't to create a perfect collection of pretty pictures. It's to create photographs that, years from now, bring you right back to this season of your life.

Start with one session. Print a few favorites. Frame them. Make an album.

That's how you start building a legacy. 🤍

I wrote a full blog post about how to start from scratch if you haven't started yet. Save this for later or share it with a mom who is always behind the camera.

I see this all the time when people are looking for a photographer…

They start with “How much do you charge?”

And honestly, I get it. Photography is an investment, and you want to make sure you're spending your money wisely.

But price really shouldn't be the *first* thing you look at.

Before you book someone, scroll through their work. Look at full galleries. Pay attention to how they photograph kids, how they use light, and whether you actually love the way their photos feel.

And then think about the experience.

Do you feel comfortable with them? Do they make things easy for you? Do they give you direction? Do you trust them with your crazy, silly, uncooperative kids?

Because you're not just paying someone to take pictures.

You're choosing the person who's going to capture **this version of your family.**

And that's a pretty big deal.

I’m legally required to say “just one more.”

What I actually mean is,

* One more standing…
* One more sitting…
* One more because someone blinked…
* One more because your toddler did something adorable…
* One more because the light is lighting…
* Okay… now one last one.

I don’t make the rules. The camera does!

And let’s be honest… if I actually stopped after “one more,” I’d probably miss the photo that ends up on your Christmas card.

Fall family session dates open August 4! My newsletter subscribers get first dibs before sessions are announced anywhere else.

Join the newsletter through the link in my bio before August 4… because unlike “just one more,” I actually mean that deadline.
