🙋🙋♀️ Mini Bible Study on Jesus' prayers
THE GREAT SHEPHERD: THE POWER OF PRAYER 🐑❤️
📖 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” — John 10:11 (NKJV)
Before Jesus went to the cross, He went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. Knowing the suffering ahead, He fell on His face before the Father, surrendering His will in obedience (Matthew 26:36–39). In John 17, Jesus prayed not only for His disciples, but also for those who would believe in Him through their message—including future generations of believers.
Think about that. Jesus prayed for you!
The Great Shepherd knows His sheep. He protects, guides, and leads us, and He calls us into a relationship with the Father. Prayer is not simply asking God to fix our problems; it is drawing near to the One who loves us, humbling ourselves before Him, and learning to trust His will above our own.
Jesus Himself made prayer a priority. If the Son of God intentionally withdrew to pray, how much more do we need that time with our Heavenly Father?
Prayer quiets our hearts, exposes our pride, strengthens our faith, and reminds us that we are dependent on God. It is where we confess our sins, receive His mercy, seek His wisdom, intercede for others, and surrender the burdens we were never meant to carry alone.
🐑 A sheep that follows its shepherd learns to recognize his voice. Jesus says in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
As we spend consistent time in prayer and Scripture, we become better grounded in God's truth and more discerning of what aligns with His Word. We may not always receive an immediate answer, but we can approach the Father with confidence, knowing He hears us.
Don't let prayer become a last resort. Make it your daily meeting place with God. Pray when you're joyful, when you're afraid, when you're struggling, and when you have nothing left to say but, “Father, I need You.”
The Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep invites you to draw near.
