Bio

Jerri Lee specializes in nature photography, but she also loves photographing people enjoying life in the high country. Lassen. She was born an artist. Her depth of knowledge about storytelling and movement grew out of her training in class

ical ballet, jazz, modern dance, and character dances from around the world. You can also feel the inspiration she gained from her study of the greats outside of photography: writers, painters, sculptors, and musicians. This background provides a unique perspective when Jerri Lee composes and finishes her art. Her work is never static and it always tells a story. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah, she continues to be a perpetual student of all related, and unrelated, subject matters. Jerri Lee is a member of Plumas Arts, the Feather River Fine Arts Association, and Professional Photographers of America. She won several People's Choice awards in 2016 for her photography from the Feather River College's Ansel Adams Photography Contest. In addition, two of her photographs were accepted by the Professional Photographers of America association into their General Loan Collection in 2016 and 2017. She is a certified Project Management Professional; she is currently working on her Stanford Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, along with expecting to complete the requirements for becoming a Certified Professional Photographer with PPA in 2018. She does contract work for the Almanor Recreation & Park District (ARPD) and occasionally contributes to the Plumas County News / Chester Progressive newspaper and Plumas County Visitors Guide. Her work was previously displayed at the Seneca Healthcare District clinic at Lake Almanor and at Thrive Fitness Studio in Bailey Creek. It can currently be viewed at two Banner Health facilities in Susanville where she completed full artwork installations - the Banner Health Clinic on Paul Bunyan Rd and the Physical Therapy Clinic on Riverside Dr. She has artwork displayed in homes and offices around the world, and her work is on display locally at the Blue Goose Gallery in Chester / Lake Almanor. Jerri Lee also does Senior and Family portrait sessions, along with special events. Please contact her for samples of her portfolio in these areas. Please contact Jerri Lee at:

Last month I headed out to Domingo Springs to see how it came out after the . It was clear the fire went through the area, but must’ve slowed down and burned less hot than other areas nearby. I also suspect there were crews there protecting the campground and the springs based on the burn patterns, but I’m no expert. Grateful it survived regardless of how it happened!

Side note, the bridge originally built by the Boy Scouts is in disrepair…. the entire side rail on one side is completely gone now and I saw other structural issues. Maybe a Junior at Chester Jr. Sr. High School could take that up as part of their Senior Project next year?

Photos taken with iPhone 11.

April 2016 versus October 2021. This little cabin was bound to fall apart eventually……we’ve been watching it slowly disintegrate for years, and the finished the job.

But the structure for the Maidu spring water was a haven for nesting birds every year - I sure hope it will be rebuilt, and am glad the placards describing the history of the valley and the Maidu survived. And I hope at least a few of the aspens will live; the birds also used them a lot, especially in the late spring.

I haven’t been photographing and sharing Dixie’s destruction because it’s just been too much to process. Maybe the fact that I’m starting to means I’m moving into the acceptance phase?

Does this put the Dixie Fire’s destruction into perspective, or what?? Just saying it’s X numbers of acres doesn’t really get the full scope across. Click on the map to see it full-screen and you’ll be shocked. And it’s not done yet.

Share to promote awareness of what has happened to our beautiful but terribly mismanaged forests! Feel free to copy/paste my words in your post if you agree.

This evening finally gave us clean air, at least for a little while. The sunset was spectacular, and badly needed to help lift the spirit, especially after seeing the miles and miles of devastation. I’m no biologist or forester, but it seems to me we’ve now moved from the forest to the high desert, and not purposefully. It’s incredible to me how the fire crews were even able to save the town of Chester - seeing how close the fire came on multiple sides just gives you a whole new appreciation. My heart aches for Greenville, Canyon Dam, and others devastated by this fire. Photos taken using iPhone 11 and shared to try to help lift others’ spirits, even if just a little. Click on the photos and you can see the full version.

Plumas County Burn Footprint
The 21st century has not been kind to Plumas County when it comes to fire. This map shows the combined burn scars of the many large wildland fires that have visited the county from January 1st, 2000, through this morning, September 1st, 2021. During that time period, about 60% of the area of Plumas County has burned.

I think/hope I'm finally out of my creative rut! I've had serious artist block since February. Today I was fortunate to experience a series of unexpected wonderful things, including air quality that was decent enough to get outside, and I felt inspired to go back to this beautiful little waterfall to photograph it. Hopefully sharing this will bring unexpected joy to someone else needing it!
