My husband and I were discussing this morning just how the Lord has blessed us—specifically talking about my photography business. Many times in life we get lost in the struggles and forget all the blessings.
Today quickly became one of those days. I'm super burnt from two long weekends in direct sun, one foot numb from squatting for hours, and now a partially numb hand from holding an extremely heavy camera for hours. (Yep...I'm getting old.) The dust from the ballfields has my eyes irritated, and I still have lots of preparation for photography camp that starts tomorrow, along with a funeral to attend. And remember, I work a full-time job, all while navigating Dysautonomia and nausea much of the day. Working most nights until midnight and then up early for work each day. And that's just a small portion of what life has been like lately.
As Westin and I were praying as we left for the ballfields today, it's as if the Lord poked me on the shoulder and said, "Remember just how blessed you are." I realized just how quickly it is to forget when faced with daily struggles.
One of those blessings is the incredible people God has placed in our path. Over the last few days, so many parents, athletes, coaches, and families have taken a moment to tell us how much they appreciate what we do. Those kind words may seem small, but they mean more than you know. When the days are long, the sun is hot, and exhaustion starts to creep in, those encouraging comments are often exactly what we needed to keep going. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, trusted us with your memories, and taken the time to encourage us. We don't take it for granted, and it truly means the world to us.
The truth is, many of the things that exhaust me today are actually answers to prayers I've prayed before. The busy photography schedule? I prayed for opportunities to grow my business. The long days serving families and athletes? I prayed for the chance to make an impact. The people who trust me to capture some of the most important moments of their lives? That's a blessing I never want to take for granted.
It's easy to focus on what's hurting, what's overwhelming, what's unfinished, or what's waiting on tomorrow's to-do list. But sometimes we need to pause and remember what God has already done.
So today, I'm choosing gratitude over grumbling. I'm choosing to remember that even in the midst of exhaustion, I am blessed beyond measure. Not because life is easy, but because God is faithful.
If you're walking through a difficult season today, take a moment and look around. You may discover that some of the very things causing stress in your life are blessings you once prayed for.
God has been good. And when I stop long enough to remember, I realize He still is.
