The Vacant Chair Photography Studio

The Vacant Chair Photography Studio A family studio dedicated to preserving and promoting wet plate collodion photography through historic interpretation and workshops.

The Vacant Chair Photography Studio is a family endeavor to marry history and art. Our mid nineteenth century era cameras, Lorena, outfitted with a Darlot petzval portrait lens and Mumford, outfitted with interchangeable large portrait lens and Darlot pill box landscape lens, are available to take ambrotypes and ferrotypes true to the wet plate era. We are more than happy to make modern-themed we

t plate images as well. Wet plate makes stunning family portraits, graduation photos, and engagement/bridal photos as well. We are only as limited as our creativity, and, trust us, there's a great deal of that to go around.

I'll have the collodion wet plate photography equipment setup at the Hull Harvest event this Saturday, September 27, at Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park. Come join us.

Step back in time with us on Saturday, May 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and discover the magic of wet plate photography!

We're thrilled to welcome Sam from The Vacant Chair Photography Studio, where the past comes alive through the lens. Sam is dedicated to preserving and promoting the 19th-century wet plate collodion process through historic interpretation and hands-on workshops.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see the art of early photography in action!
